Laura Zapata relived the moment of her abduction: “If there is no body, there is no crime”

It has been almost 20 years since Laura Zapata and Ernestina Sodi were kidnapped after leaving a theater in Mexico City, on this occasion the Mexican historian who is remembered for giving life to great villains on small screens, delved into this event which, as she has pointed out, has been one of the most traumatic aspects of his life.

It was during the most recent broadcast of The Interview with Yordi Rosadoi/i that the first 65-year-old histrionist shared intimate details of her September 22, 2002 abduction.

According to Laura Zapata, the kidnapping took place in the vicinity of the Interior Circuit, near the then Cosmos Cinemas, after leaving the theater play La casa de Bernarda Alba, where he gave life to Martírio 'The Humpback'.

“The kidnapping was like lightning that struck me and broke me into millions and millions of pieces that took me six years, picking up each of the pieces, rearranging myself, readjusting and reintegrating myself into life,” Zapata recalled.

“We start to see a van with a car like they are fighting and suddenly we see a guy with long guns coming down from the van and I say 'wow, they bring long guns and they come to us'. With the butt of the gun it breaks my glass, I took off a diamond ring and put it in my chest, opened the door and said 'Take the car',” he said.

Later, the actress who is currently seeking to lead the National Actors Association (ANDA) narrated that although she tried to run, the subjects caught up with her and uploaded her to a van, shortly after they did the same thing with their sister, and then move her to the trunk of a car.

“We arrived at the first safe house, I shouted garlic, onions, sparkles and everything at them and the head of the band says 'Calm down Laurita, let's not start with those things because then I'm going to get very angry too '” he stressed.

The aspiring federal deputy for the National Action Party (PAN) in 2003, commented that the kidnappers wanted payment from her brother-in-law Tommy Mottola, Thalia's husband: “This is a kidnapping, it's nothing personal, we want Tommy Motola's money and we want $5 million.”

Later, Thalia's sister told them that she didn't speak English, so she only knew the businessman very little: “I don't know if she has one, two or five million pesos and I don't think she will give a weight for me,” she commented in the talk with Yordi Rosado, which lasted just over 20 minutes talking about her experience.

The performer who gave life to Maximiliana Limantour in The Intruder shared that the kidnapping was coordinated by the band from ib“Los Tiras”. He also recalled an anecdote that surprised Yordi Rosado with one of his captors named Pancho who was supposedly in love with the actress.

“'Pancho tells me 'I'm going to see my mom in Guadalajara and they want me to bring them' [...] 'Pancho' returns from his trip and tells us 'I'm re' worried', It is that I arrived at my house and my mom was lighting a candle and she says to me 'Look, my mijito that actress Laura Zapata was kidnapped, who will have her? Where will they have it? The kidnapper's mother asked him about me,” the Mexican interpreter recalled to the surprise of Yordi Rosado.

Finally, the histrionist recalled that they had to change houses for a few days, because there was a raid near where they were, so they even thought of killing them: “They said 'what are we going to do, they are coming for us, they have already discovered us, we must kill them, because if there is no body there is no crime'” she concluded.
