Just as one sector of the press speculated a Santiago Pact to supposedly allow Uruguay to be defeated by Chile on the last day of the qualifying rounds, there are also those who are raising the possibility that the Colombian national team will encourage Paraguay to beat Peru in order to win the repechage position. However, Guaraní goalkeeper Gerardo Amílcar Ortiz, now a member of Once Caldas and called to some parties by Guillermo Barros Schelotto, ruled out any kind of incentive for his country to prevail.

In conversation with the VBar program, by Caracol Radio, the goalkeeper of the Manizalita team, who did not receive the call to his team for this qualifying date, stated that Paraguay's only interest in beating Peru is deportivo, beyond the fact that he is eliminated. Of course, he confessed that he would prefer to see Colombia playing in the repechage — against the third country in the Asian qualifiers.

The issue in the final round of qualifying, scheduled for March 29, is as follows: if Colombia beats Venezuela and Peru does not beat Paraguay, the match will be for the coffee team, which will seek its third consecutive qualification to a World Cup, a feat of which there is already a precedent, in the decade of the 90s. In that sense, the tricolor fans will encourage the Guarani to defeat the Inca team.

Ortiz also explained that he does not understand why Colombia, with renowned players in its ranks, is on the tightrope. Or well, like everyone else, he agrees on the lack of a goal at decisive moments, but also in his pleasure to see her in Qatar, especially because of what it implies for those who encourage the team.

When the 33-year-old cancerbero was asked about the analysis of the decisive qualifying day, he added that Paraguay has to beat the national team led by Gareca, which comes from a difficult match against Uruguay, where he burned more than one cartridge.

“Paraguay is not fighting entry to the World Cup for details, but there are players. Unfortunately it happened that way, but there is a large group of humans and raw materials. Peru also played a great match and it comes from a great deal of wear, but I think that Paraguay will be given the opportunity, each one doing its job, for Colombia to reach the World Cup, which is my wish,” he concluded.
