Four people were reportedly involved in the murder of a 13-year-old girl in Valle del Cauca, including one of her friends

It was known that the murderers of Mariluna Giraldo, a 13-year-old girl, tied a weight to the body of the little girl to a weight to make it difficult to find her and in the crime, according to accounts handled by the authorities, at least three other people besides her friend, who confessed to murdering her.

“We accompany the family in their grief, we regret this very rejectable fact and we call on the community to promote non-violence against children and be our lives and our future,” said Mario Alejandro Reyes, mayor of La Victoria.

Giraldo, had disappeared since last Tuesday, March 22, when he was on his way to visit a friend. Then there were audios and conversations in which Giraldo's friend confesses to killing her and specifies the place where she would have dumped her body.

“She recently turned 13, had retired from school a few months ago, a few days ago she met that girl from Ansermanuevo and kept up and down. On Tuesday, my mom last saw her was around 4:00 in the afternoon, the neighbors also saw them together at that time,” said the deceased's aunt.

For his part, Mario Reyes, mayor of La Victoria (Valle del Cauca), shocked that “On Saturday I called a day of search for the girl, through the information that the Police for Children and Adolescents had. This 17-year-old girl had already turned herself in, she gave very precious information about where the body could be.”

And he added that “unfortunately Mary Luna's body was found lifeless, on the banks of the Cauca River, submerged in water, with a weight of 10 to 15 kilos tied to her feet. This is a very regrettable fact for a minor. A 13-year-old girl who is just beginning to live.”

The minor's body was found in the area known as Linderos, jurisdiction of the municipality of La Unión, north of Valle del Cauca. The mayor also reported that the 17-year-old girl gave the names to other participants and that this is in the hands of the Prosecutor's Office for the investigation.

“She has mentioned that there are three other people involved and the reason so far is unknown as such,” he added.

The official added that “we are aware that Mary Luna had a family in Ansermanuevo and this girl had arrived 15 days ago. He goes out with her on Tuesday to a very popular place here, by people from work in the fields, where she says she stayed at a distance, while other people committed the crime.”

It is that, apparently, in the middle of the search for the child, Giraldo's family learned that one claimed to have killed her and revealed that her body had been thrown into the Cauca river, which is why the police started a sweep at the source of water.

According to preliminary versions, the confessed murderer of the young woman was arrested on March 25 in the area known as El Vergel, in the municipality of Ansermanuevo.

The authorities are waiting to determine the motive for the crime, although there is speculation among friends and acquaintances of the victim that it would be out of envy or that they had a fight.
