Fernández de Cevallos exploded against AMLO and AIFA: “Only the Papantla Flyers will fly”

The controversial “Chief Diego” assured that Q4 lies about the real cost of the airport, which will not meet the needs of passengers, so it was urgent to build a new one

The Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) has been one of the many mega-projects promoted by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) that carries criticism and accusations against the alleged irregularities it has had since the first stone was laid.

Diego Fernández de Cevallos became one of the most fierce critics of the Fourth Transformation (Q4), so these facilities, recently inaugurated last Monday, March 21, were also the target of his questioning and ridicule.

Now he decided to occupy his column, published weekly in the Milenio newspaper, to call López Obrador “botarga” and ensure that the only people who will be able to fly safely in the AIFA are the Papantla flyers.

“Therefore, as long as we have no president but the botarga that deceives fools and frightens cowards, only the Flyers of Papantla will fly safely,” wrote the former presidential candidate for the National Action Party (PAN).

Among the aspects that attracted the lawyer's attention was the way in which the first day of operations was celebrated, since it was a party in which all the people participated and even tlayudas sold.

He also assured that two fundamental purposes were fulfilled for Mexico: that the “good people” should have been able to observe the president for a moment, whom he called “the smallest Highness”, and the second was to ratify “who rules in Mexico.”

“With that festive inauguration, the two fundamental purposes were fulfilled: first, that “the good people” (who do not fly) watch and admire for a few hours the greatness of His Little Highness; second, with this new scam it was ratified before the world who rules in Mexico and over Mexico... at the cost and with whatever misfortunes they may be,” said the “Chief Diego”.

Although he was rude with these statements, he stated that he wanted this work to be “useful and profitable” for the whole country, but this desire does not prevent him from reflecting on official data and the opinions of experts in the field.

Fernández de Cevallos' main reflection was devoted to the cost of AIFA, stating that the government has lied about the price. On different occasions they have stated that there was an investment of 75 billion pesos, when the entire work amounted to more than 130 billion pesos.

He also pointed out that a few million more are missing for the missing runways, the costs for the access roads plus the compensation that must be paid to the businessmen, whom AMLO has accused of corruption, who had begun work on the Texcoco airport, which has already been completely abandoned.

“By the way, no one has proven such crimes, those defamed by the morning rascal are still government contractors; the cost to the treasury will be greater than the private investment required by Texcoco; and the 700 hectares and buildings of Benito Juárez will not be available for the benefit of this depressed area of CDMx,” he shared. Fernandez de Cevallos.

The second reflection of the former politician argued that AIFA and Benito Juárez Airport will not be able to work at the same time, since airspace prevents it, so, he said, there will be no reduction in the flow of people.

He also reported that AMLO's flagship work will contribute nothing to meet airport demand in the coming years in Mexico's capital. Therefore, he called for the construction of a new intercontinental airport to promote tourism, trade and, in short, the good future of Mexico.

“There is something more serious: the danger of the joint operation of the two airports, due to their proximity, and aeronautical characteristics of the area, leaves the lives of users to the expertise of ground operators and thousands of pilots, because the risk of tragedies is warned,” said Diego Fernández de Cevallos.
