Congressional disapproval reaches its highest levels and reaches 76.7% according to a survey conducted by CPI and revealed on Sunday by the Panorama program.

Only 16.1% agree with Parliament's management and 7.2% do not know or think. The disapproval is even greater than that of President Pedro Castillo, whose work is not supported by 68.4% of respondents. In addition, 82.7% of Peruvians believe that everyone should leave, including Parliament, and that general elections should be called immediately if the president is vacated in Congress this Monday.

People are tired and want new elections to change the president and Congress of the Republic,” said Omar Castro, general manager of CPI, in Panorama.

BENCHES WITH THE GREATEST DISAPPROVAL

The pollster also asked why benches are the ones that generate the most rejection. Thus, the least disapproved political groups are Somos Peru and Together for Peru, while the most disapproved is Alliance for Progress:

- We are Peru: Approves 19.4%/Disapproves 57.8%/Does not know or think 22.8%

- Together for Peru: Approves 18.9%/Disapproves 66.3%/Does not know or think 14.8%

On the other hand, the poll also asked, in Metropolitan Lima, why potential candidates plan to vote in the regional and district elections that will be held in October of this year. Rafael López Aliaga, from Renewal Popular, tops the list.

- Rafael López Aliaga (Popular Renewal) 18.6%

- Daniel Urresti (Podemos Peru) 16.6%

- George Forsyth (We are Peru) 10.1%

- Ricardo Belmont (Free Peru) 8.7%

- Alvaro Paz de la Barra (Faith in Peru) 4.5%

- Edde Cuellar (Popular Action) 4%

The CPI survey was conducted from March 21 to 25, 2022 with 500 interviewees. The margin of error is ± 4.4 pts.

IEP SURVEY

On Sunday, the newspaper La República also published an IEP survey, whose figures are not much different from that of the ICC. 8 out of 10 people (80%) consider that the most convenient thing for the country is the call for new general elections (of the president and the Congress) if Pedro Castillo were to be vacated. In this scenario, only 9% believe that Vice President Dina Boluarte should be the one to assume the presidency, and barely 5% believe that congressmen should be kept.

On the other hand, it was also revealed that people are not very interested in following what is happening in national politics. Only 45% of respondents said they knew the message that President Castillo gave to Congress on March 15.

Finally, President Pedro Castillo reached his maximum disapproval this month: 68% do not support his administration.

The IEP survey was conducted from 21 to 24 March 2022 with 1,201 interviewees distributed in 24 departments. The margin of error is ± 2.8 pts.
