Chihuahua family was the victim of an armed attack; 3 adults were killed and 2 minors injured

Armed civilians shot down a family that was circulating in the town of El Zorrillo, which is located in the municipality of Guadalupe y Calvo, Chihuahua; two women and one adult man were killed, while two minors were killed with gunshot wounds.

The victims were driving inside a black Volkswagen-brand van by the road that connects the entrance to the town with the highway that connects various communities in the Sierra Tarahumara of Chihuahua when they were intercepted by a group of armed civilians, who fired at them.

State authorities identified the fatalities as Martina V.C., 39 years old; Nubia Judith M.V., 24; and Jorge Omar C. C. C., 36 years old, alias El L1; while the injured are a child under nine months old and another three years old, who were hospitalized due to the severity of their injuries. His state of health has not been disclosed.

The Attorney General's Office of the State of Chihuahua (FGE) reported that around 200 7.62 x 39 mm caliber casings and at least 30,223mm caliber casings were found at the site, which were used by long guns during the attack on the family.

Expert personnel went to the area to carry out the first inquiries concerning the investigation folder opened for the case, and according to information gathered by the authorities, the attack occurred on Friday 25 March at around 1 pm.

Last February, hit men shot down nearly a dozen people attending a funeral in Chihuahua, events that could have a connection to recent violent events. So hit men arrived at two wakes where the same person was veiled and the result of both attacks was nine companions killed in Ciudad Juarez, on the Chihuahua border.

According to local reports, relatives and neighbors were at the funeral in the Luis Echeverria neighborhood, during midnight on Friday, February 11, but the group of armed men arrived and opened fire, leaving two women lifeless in the area, while a third man died on the way to the hospital.

Hours later, around noon on Saturday, February 12, the body continued to be watched in a church in colony 16 de Septiembre, but the assassins arrived there again and shot down six companions.

Four of those who attended the funeral ceremony were left without life in the religious precinct, while two more died in medical centers, including a minor, according to police reports.

In the first events, Gloria Jovana González, 27, Maria del Rosario Martínez, 52, and Jorge Antonio Torres Leyva, 35, were identified.

The women were shot dead at the home located between Francisco J. Múgica and Valentín Gómez Farías streets. The subject arrived without vital signs at a clinic aboard a private car and two more were left with injuries.

Around 13 hours passed and despite the attacks, the relatives continued to bury the body with a previous mass. In the chapel there was also a ceremony to say goodbye to an older man. The father was in the Eucharist when the subjects broke in and shot.
