Sergio Pérez took another historic step in his career as a Formula 1 driver. After he became the first Mexican to stand on the podium at the Autodromo de los Hermanos Rodríguez in the 2021 season and was a key player for Max Verstappen to win the drivers' championship, in 2022 he won the first pole position of his career. With this, he will start first place during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and won the recognition of various personalities.

After the tense Friday he experienced thanks to a missile attack on an oil plant near the Jeddah circuit, Checo Pérez demonstrated why he is one of the best pilots in the world. In the qualifying round he managed to dominate the fastest and most complicated track of the 2022 season, covering 6,175 meters of asphalt in one minute with 28 seconds and 200 thousandths. With this figure he was ahead of Charles Leclerc de Ferrari by 25 thousandths.

The achievement jumped to public opinion, as he became the first Mexican in Formula 1 to start in the first position of any Grand Prix. In this sense, David Faitelson was one of the first characters to recognize the significance and commitment that tapatio has delivered in his career. “He competes just where he always dreamed of competing in Mexican motorsport,” he wrote on his Twitter account.

Rafael Márquez, former defender of FC Barcelona and Atlas, acknowledged “how great are you Sergio Checo Pérez #PolePosition”, on his verified account @RafaMarquezMX.
