This Saturday saw the first results of the necropsy performed on Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, which showed that the drummer had, in his body, approximately 10 different substances, including antidepressants and opioids, generating apparent heart failure. In that sense, forensics found a case that drew attention in the middle of the analysis of the artist.

In the midst of the studies, the experts found that Hawkins' heart had an abnormal size, taking into account the grammage of this organ in any person. According to Legal Medicine, the drummer's heart weighed approximately 600 grams, and additionally, it was twice the size of an average adult.

The approximate weight of a heart is from 250 to, maximum, 350 grams, which is why this caught the attention of researchers. However, there are cases where the deceased has a hypertrophy in the heart caused by cardiac pathologies, as well as a marked change in the size of the heart due to the constant use of psychoactive substances. In that order, there is a hypothesis that the organ of Oliver Taylor Hawkins has grown due to an alleged overdose; however, it is expected that Legal Medicine will deliver a new part on this version.

But around all the existing versions, the artist had mentioned during his lifetime the reason for his infrequent size and weight of the heart, pointing out that it was not because of the use of any narcotic drug but, on the contrary, his physical form at that time.

In an interview by Brian Hiatt for Rolling Stone magazine in June last year, the drummer stated that he was in good health and that his doctor had given him a positive assessment regarding his state of health

You look good, man, yeah,” said Hiatt.

- Did he play the drums well yesterday? Were you singing well yesterday? Hawkins replied.

Yes, yes, yes,” replied the interviewer.

“No, I'm fine. I got the message, which was very important,” said the drummer of Foo Fighters. And I'm lucky. I'm lucky I got the message at the right time. So yes, I'm healthy. I'm fine... I have very bad sinus infections. And I just found out from my doctor, I did all the blood tests and they checked my whole heart and he said, “Dude, you're in incredible shape.” Your heart is big, because you exercise a lot. It's like the heart of a runner.” And that's okay. The only thing is, he said, “I think you have sleep apnea.” And my wife always says that you snore and make strange noises in your sleep and stuff.

In addition, during that dialogue, the journalist asked him about his constant state of anxiety generated by the concerts, to which he replies that “Always, always, always” presents this condition.

For the time being, the version that Hawkins' death was caused by heart failure resulting from an alleged overdose remains primary, taking into account his history with the use of antidepressants and narcotic drugs, as well as the fact that his body was found without signs of violence before appearing at the Festival Stereo Picnic on March 25th.
