The Sonora State Attorney confirmed the possible involvement of Alexis Antonio “N” in the femicide of Laura Elizabeth Rico Leyva that occurred in Puerto Peñasco, in the northern part of the entity.
In a statement posted on her social networks, the Attorney General in Sonora, Claudia Indira Contreras Córdova, announced that the arrest warrant against Alexis Antonio “N” was executed for her probable involvement in Laura's femicide.
It was issued after the evidence presented and collected by the Attorney General's Office of the State of Sonora (FGJE), in which they ensured the establishment of the probable co-authorship of the accused.
The Sonora Prosecutor's Office executed the arrest warrant and was charged with the crimes of enforced disappearance and the use of stolen vehicles to commit the crime.
“On March 24, the Sonora Prosecutor's Office obtained a warrant from the judge to search a home, where, through an orifice, two dead bodies were warned, the same place, where he was arrested by the Municipal Police Alexis Antonio, who, before the Public Ministry, accompanied by his defense lawyer, narrated that he participated in the illegal deprivation of Laura,” the prosecutor reported.
According to the prosecutor's statement, the detainee explained that a person named Ángel ordered the deprivation of Laura's life as well as her concealment together with another person who is called by the nickname “Cholo”.
He also indicated that after hiding Laura's body, they moved to the home of two other subjects whose identity is still unknown. There, Angel and Cholo were murdered, but Alexis was left alive.
In this way, he stressed, “of Laura Elizabeth's three aggressors, two are dead and Alexis Antonio “N” in prison under criminal proceedings.”
The home where Alexis “N” was arrested is located in the Benito Juárez neighborhood, where Laura Lizbeth's body was also found.
“The Prosecutor's Office will work towards an exemplary sanction,” said Contreras Córdova. “My solidarity with Laura Elizabeth's family, to them, to feminist groups and to the residents of Puerto Peñasco and Sonora who demand justice, I reaffirm my commitment to guarantee it,” said the Attorney General.
Laura Elizabeth was reported missing on March 16 by her relatives and was located in the same residence where the other two bodies of her assailants were.
According to a statement issued on March 24, “The discovery was made at 04:30 hours this Thursday, after a person alerted the existence of the dead bodies in a home in Colonia Benito Juárez, assuring that it is the person reported missing.”
Three hours later, authorities announced that the woman's body had been identified as Laura Elizabeth's by means of a hummingbird tattoo on her chest at shoulder height.
