This Sunday, March 27, several matches will be held at the international level. Although in South America and Europe they have been playing their respective Qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, in North America, Central America and Oceania they are also fighting for the quotas for the World Cup. In that sense, we will tell you about the duels that you must follow, in addition to the respective South American leagues that are still in dispute despite the FIFA qualifiers by date.
First, with regard to the CONCACAF qualification process, the three and a half quotas that are in full struggle have not yet been secured. Precisely, the leader is Canada with 25 points, so a victory against Jamaica grants him the direct pass. Meanwhile, Costa Rica (fourth with 19 points) unexpectedly got into the fight after beating the Canadians 1-0 on the last date, although they must expect Mexico (third with 22 points) to lose to an eliminated Honduras. For its part, the United States (second with 22 points) must also win its match against Panama to secure the pass and not get complicated. There is not much difference in the standings, so the goal difference in the latter instance will be a determining factor in defining the qualifiers.
On the other hand, Oceania is also waiting to define their representatives in the World Cup. Solomon Islands will face Papua New Guinea to finalize the first runner-up, while the second would come out of the key between New Zealand and Tahiti. The winners will meet this Wednesday, March 30 in the grand final to find out which team will face the fourth CONCACAF representative.
Now, to go to the South American leagues, in Brazil the Carioca Championship is still being played with the duel between Fluminense and Botafogo, in addition to Sao Paulo vs. Corinthians for the Paulista Championship.
There is also a date in Colombian football, with the matches between Deportivo Cali and Cortuluá, Alianza Petrolera with Patriotas and Deportes Tolima against America from Cali. In this last match, Raziel García will not be present because he is with the Peruvian national team for the last qualifying match against Paraguay.
Finally, at MLS, Portland Timbers will host Orlando City by Pedro Gallese. Like Raziel, the Peruvian goalkeeper meets the 'bicolor' waiting to get the long-awaited qualification this Tuesday 29th.
