This Sunday in Oaxaca, the extraordinary elections are being held to renew the authorities of seven municipalities. Election day has passed in all of them calmly, with the exception of Santiago Laollaga where blockades were reported by villagers that prevented the polls themselves from entering such facilities.

In that municipality located in Itsmo de tehuantepec, residents simply blocked the entrances to that town, thus making it impossible to install about six boxes planned in that place. Citizens argued that there were no favorable conditions for holding the elections, remembering that they had not yet been clarified by the violence they experienced there on June 6.

In total, the State Electoral and Citizen Participation Institute (IEEPCO) planned to install 167 boxes. By 9 am on March 27, there were a total of 66 already launched, almost 40% of those planned.
