Of the 32 tickets available for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, 19 have already been booked: there are still 13 tickets in dispute. The draw that will take place next Friday, April 1 at the Doha Convention and Exhibition Centre (DECC) will feature four pots that will be divided through the FIFA ranking that will be published the previous day.
Although between today and Wednesday all the qualifiers will be known, the current scenario allows you to start playing with the drums, although the mystery will remain until March 31 when FIFA updates the ranking for the last time before the draw.
With today's stage, Belgium, Brazil, France, Argentina, England, Spain and Qatar will surely be the top seeds. The other one that will make up Pot 1 will leave Portugal (8th in the FIFA ranking) or Denmark (9th), depending on whether the Portuguese beat North Macedonia and get the World Cup pass.
Pot 2, in that case, will house the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Croatia and Uruguay. The other three available sites will be distributed between Denmark (could be seeded), Mexico, the United States, Sweden, Senegal or Iran within the current context.
If there are no big moves in the ranking or surprises in Concacaf with Mexico and the US (two dates before the end they are in direct qualifying positions), the third ciborium would already have Iran, Japan, Serbia and South Korea inside.
This sector is where there may be the greatest fluctuations, pending what happens with Morocco and Senegal in the definition of the five tickets available for the African continent. Also with the European key of Poland vs. Sweden, as the winner of that match could star in this sector or maybe make the leap to the second pot.
Another example is Canada, which today could be ranked first in Concacaf, but which will depend on many factors to be in the third ciborium rather than the fourth.
The fourth pot, for its part, has already confirmed the teams of Saudi Arabia and Ecuador, but also the three balls that will represent the playoffs that will only be played in June. The European in this sector will come out of the duel between Wales and the winner of Scotland and Ukraine.
The other protagonists of the repechages are far from being defined. On the Conmebol side, Peru, Colombia and Chile will fight for that place on Tuesday, while in Asia it is only known that Australia is one of the contenders: it will play a match for that place with the United Arab Emirates, Iraq or Lebanon, something that will only be defined on Tuesday.
As for the repechage involving Concacaf, there will be greater clarity after this Sunday's date: Costa Rica occupies that place, although mathematics allows Mexico, the United States or Panama to be placed in that place. The opponent of this ticket will come from the winner of the Oceania Playoffs who already have their semifinal duels defined: Solomon Islands vs. Papua New Guinea and New Zealand vs. Tahiti.

THE RULES OF THE RAFFLE
The 29 qualified teams, the two intercontinental playoffs and the UEFA play-off quota will be divided into four groups of eight teams each, based on the World Ranking published on 31 March 2022, following the end of the international match window in March 2022. According to the standings, the top seven teams, along with the host, Qatar, are assigned to group 1. Selections ranked from 8 to 15 are assigned to group 2. The teams qualified from 16 to 23 are assigned to group 3 and, finally, group 4 includes the teams classified from 24 to 28, in addition to the two places that will be occupied by the winners of the intercontinental qualifiers scheduled for 13 and 14 June 2022 and the place of the winner of the UEFA playoff.
The general principle of FIFA, wherever possible, is to ensure that no group has more than one team from the same qualifying area. This applies to all areas, except Europe, which is represented by 13 teams. Each group must have at least one European team, but no more than two. Thus, five of the eight groups will have two European teams.
