“Giving joy to my people is something I've always dreamed of”: Miguel Ángel Borja

After seven games without scoring a goal, the Colombian football team once again held a score, in their 3-0 win last Thursday against Bolivia. Miguel Ángel Borja, was in charge of scoring the partial 2-0. With confidence in the clouds, the Barranquilla Junior striker is shaping up as a starter in the match against the Venezuelan national team for the final date of the Conmebol qualifiers heading to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Before the final match, in which it will be decided whether the leaders of Reinaldo Rueda play or not, the World Cup Repechage against the representative of the Asian continent, Borja stated that “Giving joy to my people is something I have always dreamed of. I suffered a lot when it wasn't marked. That is our job, we train every day to give our best”, commented the striker regarding the long drought of the Colombian goal.

Looking ahead to the match next Tuesday, March 29 at the Cachamay Stadium in Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela, the scorer of the team led by Reinaldo Rueda, in the World Cup Qualifiers with four goals, said. “We are on the right track. The match against Venezuela will be very tough, fortunately it was already possible to score.”

Regarding his bad streak ahead of the goal that was already broken, he said: “We were very confident that the goal was going to come. It was clear in the other matches, we had several goal options. Those stages happen in football.”

We have alternative solutions to present a balanced team in Venezuela,” said the vallecaucano coach ahead of the match against Vinotinto. Regarding the next game and the intention of consolidating a payroll, he said: “There is a very difficult game left. Surely we are going to make a good game that will allow us to access the leaderboard. We want to consolidate this team, give it that confidence in the face of a difficult opponent.”

Thus, against Venezuela, Colombia would form like this: Captain David Ospina would be in the arc. The defense would consist of Daniel Muñoz, Carlos Cuesta, William Tesillo and Frank Fabra. In the midfield, the national team would have three players: Gustavo Cuellar, James Rodríguez and Matheus Uribe, who would replace Cuadrado. Ahead, the strikers, those in charge of concluding the attacking play, would be: Luis Sinisterra, Luis Díaz and Miguel Ángel Borja.

It should be remembered that this match is agreed for 6:30pm (in Colombia), and that all matches on this date will be played simultaneously. Among them, the game between Peru and Paraguay in Lima.
