The general director of Metrobús, Roberto Capuano, announced that on March 27, from 5:30 a.m. the expansion of Line 4 began operations, which has the Alameda Oriente station as its terminal.

The Secretary of Mobility, Andrés Lajous Loaeza, explained that this expansion will allow users from the State of Mexico who travel to Pantitlán to now be able to do so from the Alameda Oriente or Calle 6 stations. The main purpose of this work is to connect the municipality of Nezahualcoyotl with the Venustiano Carranza Mayor's Office.

“It must be remembered that there is a Metrobús station, now, not just Mexibús, inside Pantitlán (that is, inside the Modal Transfer Center, also known as whereabouts). This (...) connects Nezahualcoyotl and Venustiano Carranza, let's say one end of Venustiano Carranza that did not have structured transport because it went, precisely, to Pantitlán, it now has it, specifically in the colonies El Sol, El Barco, Maravillas, Peñón de los Baños, El Arenal, Cuchilla Pantitlán, Adolfo López Mateos, El Caracol and Agrícola Pantitlán”, he explained.

Lajous Loaeza also reported that the extension of Line 4 has an extension of 6.7 kilometers, of which 2.8 will be shared with the Mexibus of the State of Mexico, and 1.2 will be for the exclusive use of Metrobús. He pointed out that from Alameda Oriente to Metro Hidalgo, in Alameda Central, the route will be 40 minutes; so it will be express.

The work involves the incorporation of 15 15-metre buses, with capacity for 130 passengers, which will be operated by the company COPATTSA. In total, the 6.7 km extension (the second on Line 4) is in addition to the current 33 kilometers, for a total route on Line 4 of 40.5 kilometers.

In addition, three safe crossings were made in Periférico and Río Churubusco, at the Bordo de Xochiaca roundabout and at Puerta 1 of the Alameda Oriente; with work on pedestrian ramps, touch guides, pedestrian traffic lights, beacons and protective bollards.

Likewise, the rehabilitation of roads was carried out, with 90 tons of asphalt applied to rolling surfaces in Periferico and Calle 7, in Bordo de Xochiaca Avenue and on Río Churubusco Avenue. Currently, with the previous extension to Pantitlán, Line 4 carries an average of 80,000 users per day and is expected to increase to 100,000 users who will take advantage of the two new stations: Calle 6 and Alameda Oriente.

It should be added that with the expansion of the Metrobús line, it is expected to achieve better mobility, security and a reduction in travel times for the inhabitants of the Venustiano Carranza, Nezahualcóyotl mayor's office and the municipality of Chimalhuacán.

On March 26, Claudia Sheinbaum, head of government of Mexico City, and Evelyn Parra Álvarez, mayor of Venustiano Carranza, inaugurated the extension of Line 4, on the Alameda Oriente-Interior Circuit section.

This particular line passes through five historical points in Mexico City, the route that used to go from Hidalgo station to Pantitlán and now reaches the Alameda Oriente, passes through places such as Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, Abelardo Luján Rodríguez Market, Plaza de Santo Domingo, the Former Convent of Santa Catalina de Siena and the Palace of Lecumberri.
