In addition to this option, President Iván Duque announced a few days ago that thanks to a partnership with the private sector young people will be able to apply for 200,000 new jobs on the Linkedin platform.
This is the 'Young Work if any' programme led by the Ministry of Labour and the Presidential Council for Youth, which aims to continue to stimulate employment generation in the country.
“This is a pact for youth. We are getting the LinkedIn application and the Government to launch this program to fill in the next 120 days the 200,000 vacancies that we currently have available through this technology platform that uses artificial intelligence,” said Duque.
For the Minister of Labor, Ángel Custodio Cabrera, the program also represents an opportunity for employers since those who hire people between 18 and 28 years old will be able to access the 25% payroll support subsidy. “Unemployment in Colombia had a rate of 14.6%, that means a decrease of almost 3% compared to January 2021, that shows that we are fulfilling the country,” said Custodio Cabrera.
In addition, there are incentives for employers who linked young people to new positions, since they will receive 25% of a minimum wage for each worker, by 2022 the minimum wage was set at $1,000,000, meaning that the incentive will increase from $227,131 to $250,000 for each young person formally hired. Similarly, for employers who linked women over 28 years of age to new jobs, financial support will be 15%, that is, it will go from $136,278 to $150,000 for each woman hired.
It is noteworthy that, by January 2022, the unemployment rate in Colombia was 14.6%, which is higher than the 11% presented in December 2021, but these statistics cannot be compared, as Dane is using a new methodological approach to adjust its measurement to the frameworks of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
