This Tuesday, March 29, Venezuela will host the Colombian national team at the Wilton Pereira Sampio stadium for the last date of the South American Qualifiers to the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Prior to this meeting, Luis Fernando Muriel and Carlos Cuestas attended the media and gave their impressions of the upcoming match in which they will meet again with José Pékerman, who recently directed the 'Vinotinto'.

First spoke Luis Muriel, who began by confessing how calm the team felt when he beat Bolivia 3-0 last Thursday: “We knew what not scoring goals meant, it was a big weight. Finally, with the goal of 'Lucho', we were able to remove it and generate that tranquility within the group to score more and win an important match. We knew that they would set us up with such a scheme and some movements were proposed based on the virtue of each of us, that we understood that we could play in several positions and not play a fixed role.”

Now, about the upcoming match against Venezuela Muriel mentioned that: “It is a game that is played almost to the death. Because of the knowledge of Professor Pékerman and who always goes out looking for the matches, we expect a proactive team. We want to get the result forward, also waiting for other results to play the repechage.”

In addition, the Atalanta striker said that until this afternoon training sessions will be held to prepare the match against 'Vinotinto' since yesterday was a day of rest. Likewise, he explained that the approach of the strategy that is planned for Tuesday will start working on the field from today.

“What will be our approach and the scheme we will work on these days. Yesterday (Friday) was a quiet and restful day, we have not yet entered the Venezuelan match as such, from the afternoon we will see what we are going to do. What is certain is the desire, desire and attitude that is not negotiable for this match, that is what the national team will put on the field. Almost all the teams when they play away try to wait a bit for the local, I think we have to be patient enough and study very well what we are going to find,” added Muriel.

Then spoke Carlos Cuesta, who confessed that he has his faith intact and that he will play his first world championship. “We, as a national team, have the slogan of having a strong, united group that can defend well and then deploy a football in attack that allows us to win the matches. If you see the goals conceded, they are very few.”

He added that: “The intention is to classify. We will see the approach. Both the players and the coaching staff, are aware that we must go out to win, from the intelligence, the game and the concentration that we have. We can't be anxious about what happens in other games, because we can't control it.”

Remember that, in order for the miracle to happen, it must be taken into account that the Colombian team is in sixth place in the standings, with 20 points; one down from Peru, which is fifth, so it must beat Venezuela and hope that the Gareca team does not add up to three points against Paraguay; and that Chile beats Uruguay, since with this score would manage to seal his way to the repechage.
