In Barranquilla, after the Colombia national team's match against Bolivia at the Metropolitano stadium, the Senator of the Democratic Center, María Fernanda Cabal, danced champeta in a box in the middle of the celebration of the coffee growers' 3-0 victory.

María Fernanda and other political figures such as Federico Gutiérrez, presidential candidate and Alejandro Char, former candidate of the Team for Colombia Coalition, let themselves be infected with the joy of the Barranquilleros, on the eve of the start of Carnival.

In the images released, the congresswoman wore the shirt of the Colombia national team and choreographed to the rhythm of champeta with a man wearing a Junior shirt. Such was the surprise that the attendees and Char himself applauded her.

Minutes before the match, the senator posted on her Twitter account the meeting with 'Fico' Gutierrez and Alex Char. And later, Cabal uploaded a photo with former Colombia national team player Faustino Asprilla.

It should be noted that María Fernanda Cabal had a historic result on election day last Sunday, March 13, adding 127,399 votes, with 74.06% of the polls counted, a figure that ranks her as the most voted female congressman in Colombia.

The presidential candidate of the Team for Colombia coalition, Federico Gutiérrez, was received in Barranquilla with applause, shouting and alive. The reason why, the former mayor of Medellin landed at Ernesto Cortissoz airport, is to hold a meeting with his teammate, Alex Char.

An image shared by the former mayor of Barranquilla on his social networks, shows that the meeting would have taken place behind closed doors at the home of the former president of the Atlantic capital. In the photograph, both wear the national team jersey and would be ready to see the commitment to the Bolivians.

This is not the first time that candidates from the right-wing coalition have met in Barranquilla, prior to a knockout match. The first time was last November 15, before the match against Paraguay. On that occasion, Enrique Peñalosa joined the meeting.

The meeting was held days after the creation of the Equipo for Colombia coalition and was held at the restaurant La Piazetta, in the north of the city, where they had dinner a tomato pizza, thaini and a soup rice, while analyzing the current landscape of the country and discussing the conditions that the Colombian National Team has for qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

At that time, the Barranquilla newspaper El Heraldo reported that during these meetings, Alex Char made the decision to start his presidential campaign. This is how the media published, “Char decided that he would not leave his wide electoral flow in the air, and entered as a reinforcement for the right wing to face the momentum that the Historical Pact of Gustavo Petro and the Coalition of Hope of Sergio Fajardo has had.”

And the coincidences keep adding up. Well, with Federico Gutiérrez as the sole candidate, the coalition has yet to define the vice-presidential formula. And in the face of uncertainty, rumors grow. People close to the campaign say that Char has a great chance of accompanying him on the card, since he took second place in the consultation and is very pleased in part of the Democratic Center, a political party that would support Gutiérrez for the first presidential round.

Char's profile in the governing party would be Senator María Fernanda Cabal, who did not hide her support for Barranquillero during the interparty campaigns. Cabal shared a photo on his social networks this Thursday, March 24, together with the former mayors and excited about a Colombian victory. It is important to emphasize that, Char had expressed his desire to Cabal, to be his vice-presidential formula if he won the interparty vote.

“When the purpose is the freedom of a country, unity is strength. We love you, Colombia”, was the message that the congresswoman shared on her Twitter account.
