James Rodríguez and Luis Díaz, a healthy rivalry full of praise in the Colombia National Team

The players are the great figures of the Tricolor who will be looking for a place in the Qatar 2022 World Cup against Venezuela.

The Colombia National Team won an important victory against Bolivia in the last match of the Qualifiers. Three points that meant breaking the bad streak, staying alive in the qualifying for Qatar 2022 and regenerating an illusion in the fans of the Tricolor, which was fragmented after the defeat to Peru. The game that was played last Thursday, March 24, also left a great figure on the field: Luis Díaz.

The Liverpool player has become the great benchmark of the Colombia National Team and that was demonstrated in the last match. Since Luis Díaz's goal against Chile last September 9 in the 74th minute, it took 684 minutes for the Colombian National Team to send the ball back to the back of the net and it would be precisely the winger that broke the bad streak.

All eyes are directed to the new jewel of Anfield, who after his successful visit to Porto, has managed to stand out in the team of Jürgen Klopp. That is why everyone in the Colombia National Team talks about 'Guajiro' and it responds to that confidence on the pitch. However, on social networks there are those who say that this situation was similar to that of James Rodríguez a few years ago.

The Tricolor has always had great references and figures on the playing field for many times. The most recent, without a doubt, have been Radamel Falcao García, James Rodriguez and now Luis Diaz. The latter won the heart of the fans after scoring and making an assist against Bolivia, which is why he was cheered by Metropolitan Roberto Meléndez when he was replaced by Jefferson Lerma.

On the other hand, James Rodríguez, who managed to lead the Colombia National Team in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, becoming the goalscorer of the contest and winning the Puskas for best goal against Uruguay, went through difficult moments in his teams. In Real Madrid he had a great start, but he was losing prominence, in Bayern he failed to adapt, in Everton he didn't have the performance that everyone expected and now in Qatar his football is not the best.

All these factors have influenced that the figure of James Rodríguez in the national team changed, at least from the perspective of the fans. Even his first riflings at the beginning of the Reinaldo Rueda era showed that things were not going in the best way. However, now that he has been part of the team again and one of the starters of the last matches, it is impossible not to compare the two figures on the team.

However, this healthy “rivalry” remains only in the comments of the fans as both James and 'Lucho' maintain a good relationship on and off the field. On social networks, players have exchanged words on several occasions. In the last publication of Luis Díaz, he posted a photo in which he sees himself celebrating, with a dance, James' goal and wrote: “What quality, little hand”.

James also posted on his social networks a photograph with Luis Díaz and wrote: “Luchito Crack”, to which the Liverpool player replied: “Magician”, this being the show that there is no rivalry between the two players and on the contrary, they are more united than ever and with the aim of getting a place for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
