After four years and the end of his government in the state of Baja California, Jaime Bonilla Valdez, formally notified Olga Sánchez Cordero, president of the Board of Directors of the Senate of the Republic, of his determination to rejoin his seat in the upper house.

Through a letter sent on March 25, the former president for Morena asked Sánchez Cordero to issue instructions to formalize his return to legislative work as soon as possible.

For his part, Senator Gerardo Novelo Osuna informed through his social networks that as of March 28, he will no longer be alternate Bonilla Valdez in the upper house.

He thanked the people of Baja California, Morena's parliamentary group in the Senate and President Andrés Manuel López Obrador for learning in the Legislative Branch for three years, assuring that he did hard work in its administration and that he will continue to support the self-called “Fourth Transformation” project.

It should be recalled that Jaime Bonilla, who is an industrial engineer from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a teacher in Public Administration from the National University of the United States, protested as a senator for Baja California on August 30, 2018, within which he pledged to “not fail” and be a “worthy representative” to ensure the interests of the five municipalities.

However, on December 6 of that year, he applied for leave to be a delegate of the Welfare Secretariat in the entity and his seat was occupied by Novelo Osuna. Three months later, on March 19, 2019, Bonilla became the first “superdelegate” to leave that responsibility to be the candidate for the governorship of Baja California.

After winning on June 2, 2019 with 50.3% of the votes, on November 1 of that year Ley protested in charge.

More information in development.
