From illness to pregnancy, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) must grant the payment of disability allowance to any worker who requests it, as the case may be, and if he meets the requirements. Therefore, in this space we will detail what are the types of disability that exist and how to apply for it.
And it is that according to the IMSS, disability is authorized in the event that a worker is unable to work. However, the IMSS doctor must issue the corresponding certificate in order to justify his absence from work during the days required for his recovery.
What are the types of subsidy?
*Risk of work
According to the institute, this type of disability does not require weeks of contributions to be authorized. The percentage of the payment must be 100% and the payment limit is from the first day until the end of 52 weeks, as determined by the IMSS Medical Services.
*Disease in general
In this case, at least 4 weeks of contributions will be needed prior to the onset of the disease. If you are a temporary worker, 6 weeks in the 4 months prior to the onset of the illness.
The percentage of payment is 60% of the salary registered with the IMSS, at the beginning of the disability. The disbursement limit will be respected on the fourth day until the end of 52 weeks, as determined by the medical services of the IMSS, may be extended for up to 26 more weeks.
*Maternity
30 weeks of contributions are required in the 12 months prior to the start of the 34th week of pregnancy. When the insured person does not comply with this requirement, the employer will be responsible for the full payment of the salary, for the duration of the period of incapacity, as dictated by Article 103 of the Social Security Act.
For the single certificate of maternity disability, it will be 100% of the salary registered with the IMSS, at the beginning of the 34th week of pregnancy, for the total number of days covered by the document. The links will be paid at 60% of the salary indicated and for the days authorized in each document.
How to apply for disability?
Those interested will have to go to the window of their corresponding Family Medical Unit and bring the following documentation:
-Valid official identification.
-Bring your Social Security Number (NSS).
-Give a bank statement, reflecting your interbank CLABE account and the name of the insured person, not older than three months.

Once there, they will request your Advanced Electronic Signature (FIEL) and share a statement, document containing your NSS, as well as an official ID.
It will be important to note that once the requirements have been reviewed and fulfilled, the payment of the subsidy must be credited on the third working day after the document is issued at the window of the authorized bank.
If your company has a so-called “Payment Agreement” with the IMSS, then the deposit will be reflected directly on your payroll.
Workers must submit the original of the “copy-pattern” of their disability in the human resources area of their company.
