Zoom announced that it will allow its users to live stream their encounters to Twitch, thanks to an integration with the streaming service. With this one option, after both accounts are connected, the user will be able to stream with just a couple of clicks.

“To help our customers streamline the process of sharing content within their communities and expand their reach, account owners and administrators can now allow hosts to live stream their meeting or webinar directly to Twitch instead of manually setting up streaming as a personalized live service”, they explained on the official Zoom blog.

This tool seeks to expand the use of this video call service for all types of meetings. It can be an opportunity for gamers, actors, journalists and even to organize labor or political events. As is known, Zoom had significant growth since the beginning of the pandemic and since then until now they took advantage of its growing popularity to add more tools.

How to stream on Twitch from Zoom

New options for organizing conversations

Zoom also announced new features that allow you to keep conversations neater and easier to navigate thanks to the ability to customize the left sidebar. The option of creating folders for chats was also added. This feature allows users to group and organize channels and chats into up to 200 folders. This feature will be available on March 28, 2022.

Video messages in chats

This feature allows users to record and send video messages within Zoom chats, with the goal of providing another, more interactive means of communication.

More information about the events

The application added options that will be useful for organizers of virtual events. With the new updates in the Product Analytics and Control section, hosts will be able to see which attendees they interacted with, what sessions participants attended, and how long they attended.

Virtual avatars

Another interesting novelty is the 3D avatars. These charts, available for Zoom Meetings and Zoom Webinar, reflect head movements, as well as facial and body expressions of video call participants.

This is a new feature recently added to the platform and allows users who do not want to appear at conferences to hide behind a virtual 3D animal, such as rabbits, dogs, bears, cows or foxes.

The avatars feature recognizes the shape of the face and features such as the eyes, nose and mouth to create the desired effects. However, it does not use facial recognition nor does it have the capacity to store this data, as detailed in Europa Press.

In addition, the platform proposes avatars as a new way to facilitate pediatric care by creating a more relaxed environment and making children more comfortable during virtual medical appointments.

At the moment, Zoom only offers animal avatars, but plans to roll out new avatars in upcoming updates to this feature, which is available on Windows and macOS computers, as well as iOS mobile devices.

To enable avatars, users must have version 5.10.0 or higher of the application installed. Once downloaded, they will need to access a meeting's toolbar and open the video options.

Other options offered by Zoom are virtual backgrounds or immersive scenes, where hosts can place participants in a virtual meeting scene or move and resize their images.

In addition to these features, the ability to include filters, such as unicorn horns, pirate patches or glasses in video conferences, as well as the ability to access other applications to complement the platform experience such as whiteboards, notes or games.
