Three must-see plans to enjoy in the Atlantic during the days of the Barranquilla Carnival

In order to promote tourism in the region, the Departmental Government highlighted the tourist offer that visitors will be able to take advantage of during their visit to the department. Here we tell you what are the activities you can't stop doing

From this Saturday 26 to next Tuesday, March 29, the Barranquilla Carnival will retake to the streets of the capital of the department of Atlántico, so, in order to promote tourism in the region, the Government announced some of the most outstanding tourist activities of the department that travelers and visitors will be able to enjoy within the framework of this cultural celebration.

According to the Government of the Atlantic, the offer of the region is so varied that its tourists will be able to enjoy sun and beach activities, ecotourism, culture and/or gastronomy, depending on the experiences they wish to live.

“In the Atlantic we can enjoy tourist plans for all tastes and budgets, which is why from the Government of the Government we extend a special invitation to all visitors who come to enjoy the Carnivals, to take out a space and live the different tourist experiences offered by our municipalities, which are the perfect complement to this cultural festival”, declared the Secretary of Economic Development of the Department of Atlántico, Miguel Vergara.

For this reason, on the occasion of the Barranquilla Carnival, the Government announced three plans that cannot be missed during its time in the department. Here we tell you what they are about.

If after the parties and events that will take place at the Barranquilla Carnival you are looking for a place where you can relax and enjoy typical Atlantic food, the beaches of Puerto Colombia are the right place for you. There, you can not only enjoy the sun and the beach, but also delight your palate with the dishes prepared by the locals on site.

14 kilometers from there, you will find Tubará, another Atlantic municipality where, in addition to enjoying the beaches of Palmarito, Mendoza, Puerto Cayman, Caño Dulce and Puerto Velero, you can also enjoy different water sports, while taking advantage of the natural beauty of the Caribbean Sea.

During its passage through the Atlantic, the Government indicated that it will also be able to take advantage of it to connect again with nature, as well as learn a little more about Atlantic culture. Among the recommended destinations are the municipalities of Usiacurí and Tubará, where you can watch birds in renowned sectors such as the Luriza reserve.

Likewise, if you want to do not so common activities, in the municipality of Baranoa, exactly in the village of Pital de Megua, you can visit a sunflower crop where, in addition to enjoying the color of the fields, you will find a wide range of gastronomic options and a variety of activities for children and young people. If you are encouraged to visit it, the opening hours are from 8:00 in the morning to 5:00 in the afternoon, with an admission cost of 10,000 pesos per person.

If you are more interested in cultural activities during your visit to the department of Atlántico, the Government recommends visiting the municipality of Usiacurí, nationally recognized for its handicrafts based on iraca palm.

Thus, in the handicraft stands installed in the Plaza de la Convivencia, located in front of the Casa Museo Julio Flórez, and at the Corina Urueta Artisan Center, you can find a variety of handicrafts such as handbags, hats, earrings, necklaces, bracelets and belts, table placemats, vases, trays, among others.

The Government recommends that you finish your tour of the municipality and your passage through the department, taking the color route 'Usiacurí es Más', an initiative in which, according to the departmental administration, you will be able to see “10 murals and the largest macromural on ceilings in Colombia that can be seen from the church Santo Domingo de Guzmán and from the recently opened Mirador”.
