Snoop Dogg announced that he will be working with BTS on a collaboration, because he thinks that by uniting their K-Pop and Hip Hop good results can arise.
In recent years Snoop Dogg has shown that he is a multifaceted rapper and can adapt to different genres, which is why he has decided to re-enter the world of K-Pop with the most important Korean group of the moment, BTS.
During the red carpet of the American Song Contest, the rapper gave an interview to The A.V. Club that was published on March 25, giving the big news. Although he did not want to elaborate on what he is working with the Bangtan Boys because he wants them to delve into the issue, he did explain why he agreed to work with young people in South Korea.
For several months there had been rumors about this collaboration, but it was not known whether it would actually take place. It was Snoop Dogg who announced during the Mogul Talk podcast that in January he received an invitation from Butter's performers to work together, which caught the attention of ARMY as he was interested.
At that time, the rapper did not know about the fame that BTS had, nor was he aware that his words would reach everyone through the fans of the boyband, thus making him realize the talent of young people and what they could do together.
“A group called BTS arrived and hopes that I will do a song with them right now. And I'm trying to figure out if I have time to do that shit* (...) he showed me five sons of put* that look like the 'New Asian Edition',” Snoop said at the time.
During the interview with The A.V. Club, he recalled the occasions he has worked with major K-Pop groups of past generations, as well as with Psy, the creator of Gangnam Style, so he is not unfamiliar with the Korean music scene.
“I've been living the K-pop experience for a long time, connected to the world of this music (and) its scene; I made an album with a group called 2NE1 in the past. Come on, it's what I do,” said the interpreter of Still D.R.E.
It was in 2013 when Snoop Dogg collaborated with the group 2NE1, and they even had several performances together. Soon after, in 2014, the rapper joined Psy to release the song Hangover, which was well received by international audiences after the success of Gangnam Style. Earlier, in 2011, the group Girls Generation released an album with several remixes of their song The Boys, where Snoop also had a short participation.
For many years now, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook have shown on their social networks that they are fans of the American rapper. In 2014 they even released the song Hip Hop Phile on the album Dark & Wild, referring to Snoop.
