“Side by Side” between the National Symphony of Colombia and the IberAcademy Orchestra

For the first time, more than 100 musicians on stage will perform Igor Stravinsky's “Rite of Spring”

On March 25 and 27 in Bogotá and Medellín respectively, it will be the “Side by Side” between the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia and the IberAcademy Orchestra, under the direction of maestro Roberto González-Monjas of Spain, and the Colombian pianist Blanca Uribe as soloist.

The performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Colsubsidio Theater in Bogotá and Sunday, March 27 at 11:00 a.m. at the Metropolitan Theater in Medellín, the Colombian National Symphony Orchestra and the IberAcademy Orchestra join forces in a first-class side by side, in which the young talents of the IberAcademy Program, they will perform a demanding repertoire, alongside the outstanding musicians of the iconic orchestra of our country.

This impressive montage is thanks to the solid alliance between two institutions with common purposes, aimed at working to strengthen the music ecosystem of Latin America, through joint projects that contribute to the improvement of the training processes of the new generations, encouraging exchanges pedagogical and artistic activities among professional and young musicians who have found their life project in music.

In both concerts, renowned Colombian pianist Blanca Uribe will perform as a soloist, who made her debut at the age of 11 with the Colombian National Symphony Orchestra, and who is currently carrying out important projects with IberAcademy, as a reference for the members of this program.

There will be more than 100 musicians on stage, to perform Igor Stravinsky's “Rite of Spring”, one of the most complex works and which in its premiere caused great controversy by breaking with all the canons of music, dance and plastic arts. In addition, Alexander Mosolov's “Iron Foundry”, an extract from a ballet that was originally praised in the USSR as a “powerful hymn to the machine” that also praised industrialization.

This program, which will be held in Bogotá and Medellín, will have Maestro Roberto González-Monjas as director and will feature Maestra Uribe, performing W. A. Mozart's Concerto No. 13 on the piano, one of the first works by the distinguished Austrian composer. Luis Biava, one of the most prominent violinists in the country and who was director of the Colombian National Symphony Orchestra, in commemoration of his third anniversary of death.

To enter the concerts, you must present the COVID-19 vaccination card with the complete scheme. All biosafety measures are taken care of at the concerts of the National Symphony.
