Helmut Marko underestimated Checo Perez's fear of attacks in Jeddah: “It's not much different from CDMX”

An oil plant located in the city of Jeddah, near where the Arabian Formula 1 Grand Prix will be held, was the target of an armed attack

The 2022 Formula 1 season is about to reach its second date at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. During the round of free trials, an oil plant belonging to the Aramco company was the target of a drone attack that caused a fire near the Jeddah Corniche circuit, where the race will take place. In that regard, Sergio Pérez expressed his fear, although the Red Bull advisor, Helmut Marko, underestimated him because he was originally from Mexico.

In an interview for Sky Sports Germany, the Austrian adviser was questioned by the team's mood for the Arabian GP, after the incident. Without hesitation, he said that “Max is not afraid, Perez is a little scared, but if you live in Mexico City... It's no less dangerous either.”
