A tender was reopened for the operation of the billionaire lottery game Baloto for the next five years. This is the fourth attempt in which they seek to have it awarded to a company before May 25, the deadline and with this prevent it from disappearing. Coljuegos. For this new process, there were changes in the rules of the game, specifically in the tariff of exploitation rights. He points out that the company that keeps the juice must pay at least 24.5% of the gross game revenue for the Baloto and Baloto Revancha draws.
“As well as the percentage determined by the Board of Directors of Coljuegos for exploitation rights for additional online lotto mechanics and/or complementary mechanics, provided for in article 2.4.2 of the rules of the game, if they are approved during the execution of the contract. The resources will be allocated in accordance with and within the periodicity established by Law 643 of 2001, and other regulations that modify or add it”, Coljuegos states in the statement released on its website.

Currently, the operator transfers 32.5% of the gross revenue from Baloto Revancha's sales to the health sector, which is one of the reasons why the last three tendering attempts have been declared void, as they see it as an unviable business. “The game operator shall allocate an additional 0.55% to the promotion of the game to the minimum provided for in Article 2.7.1 and Article 2.9.3. (subaccount advertising costs) of the rules of the game”.
It is important to note that between 2018 and 2021, the exploitation rights of the billionaire gambling, worth 227,670,058,182, were allocated to finance the health sector. Since it began, 21 years ago, it has generated contributions of 1.4 billion pesos.

A few days ago, the president of the Colombian Federation of Business Owners of Luck and Chance (Fecoljuegos), Evert Moreno, stated that, “the regulation is made for a game 10 years ago, when there was no competition from other online platforms, which today have very large competitive advantages. If the percentage is not lowered, the game will most likely end because it is not viable. On the contrary, if it is lowered there will initially be a reduction in health transfers, but if it is accompanied by other game mechanics, resources can be increased.”
These changes, which have been made by Coljuegos, seek to find the new Baloto operator in the best possible time, as well as to guarantee the financing of the health of Colombians. In a statement published a few days ago, the entity stated that; “in addition to transparency in the selection processes of the Baloto concessionaire, the fundamental thing is to guarantee the financing of the health of Colombians, through the continued exploitation of the game to continue generating resources to the health sector and consolidate this game that is so important for the country”.
