These initiatives are intended to contribute to the cleaning of public space and raise awareness among citizens about the importance of properly managing these wastes. The community, owners and managers of service libraries, tire lifts and other establishments are invited to carry used tires for bicycles, motorcycles, cars, trucks and tractomulas with wheels of a maximum of 22.5 inches.

The local government reminds citizens that this waste must be collected of a special nature, since its incorrect collection can cause environmental, road safety and human health impacts as it can attract mosquitoes.

Also, the Special Administrative Unit for Public Services (UAESP) reminds the general public that they can use the Environmental Graphic Viewer tool, which is available on the Internet, which allows people who change tires in their homes to find the nearest collection point.

This will not be the only day of collection, in fact, the last one was held on March 17 in the towns of Puente Aranda and Ciudad Bolivar. There, 1,114 tires were collected.

, said Alejandro Gómez, Deputy Director of Eco-Urbanism and Corporate Environmental Management of the Ministry of Environment.

The next conference will be announced on the social networks of the Mayor's Office of Bogotá and the UAESP, in addition, the district gives some peace of mind, since last year they managed to collect 14,058 bicycle, motorcycle, car and truck tires. “Tires are special waste and, therefore, from the Ministry of the Environment we take care of supervising that they are disposed of correctly. Throughout 2021 we did six days of 'Llantatón', with which we managed to collect more than 14,000 tires around the city,” said Environment Secretary Carolina Urrutia.

The conference also encourages the recycling and use of this type of material. Used tires that are recycled, explains Deputy Director Gómez, are used as inputs for new products as an “alternative to the city's circular economy.” The largest volume in the days of the 'Llantaton' and the programs of what is called post-consumption, are used for energy processing or recovery.

, assures the Ministry of the Environment.
