Authorities located explosive depots in Bolívar, Valle del Cauca

The war material was destroyed in a controlled manner by members of the third division of the National Army

Recently, the Colombian authorities managed to locate two depots of explosives that would belong to the FARC dissidents. The war material was hidden in a guadual in the Monte Hermoso village, in the village of Naranjal, a rural area of the Bolívar municipality.

According to Brigadier General William Fernando Prieto, commander of the third division of the National Army, there were several cylinders loaded with 63 kilograms of explosives on the site. They also found about twelve kilograms of shrapnel.

According to information provided by the National Army, the explosive material was destroyed in a controlled manner by members of the National Army's Explosives and Demolitions Group.

Likewise, the authorities emphasized that a trained dog that is part of the body of the institution, was indispensable to achieve the location of this exclusive material that would belong to the illegal armed group Adam Izquierdo of the FARC dissidents.

Authorities deactivated a motorcycle loaded with explosives

A week ago, authorities also announced the deactivation of a motorcycle loaded with explosives, which was located on the road that leads from Santander from Quilichao to Jamundí, in Valle del Cauca.

As explained by the Attorney General's Office, the deactivation of explosives was achieved thanks to investigative actions that were carried out in a coordinated manner hours before the start of last election day. After this work, the exact location of the motorcycle without license plates was identified and the strict anti-explosives protocol was available.

According to the information of the aforementioned entity, the motorcycle loaded with 15 kilograms of explosives, was abandoned in an unpopulated place on the road that connects Santander de Quilichao, in Cauca, with Jamundí in Valle del Cauca.

After the first investigations, the authorities managed to establish that the cargo would be used for a terrorist attack in northern Cauca.

In order to deactivate the explosives, it was necessary to carry out an operation in which units of the STI of the Prosecutor's Office as well as members of the National Army participated.

The authorities reported that during the operation with which the motorcycle was located and the explosives were subsequently defused, there was no capture and so far it is unknown who is responsible for this attempted attack.

“There were no catches in the procedure. Those found were subjected to legal control before a judge of guarantees,” added the Attorney General's Office.
