Media from Peru, Ecuador, Argentina, Chile and even Spain have spoken about the case of Daniel Osorio, the young man who took his own life at the age of 21 after being abused throughout his childhood and adolescence. His mother, Patricia Osorio, is still seeking justice. You will not rest until you find those responsible and thus ensure that your child's memory can rest easy. In addition, it seeks to ensure that cases like yours do not recur.

There isn't a single day when she doesn't think about him. He keeps the letters in which his son tells how he feels and what he lives, until the moment he decides his fateful resolution. Daniel Eduardo lived involved in this drama for about 9 years. Every time she passes in front of her room and sees her things, she feels infinite sadness. I was a little boy when it all started. His mother had just enrolled him in San Viator School, one of the most renowned private institutions in the north of Bogotá. The boy reached the fifth grade of primary school, some versions say that he entered the sixth grade. In any case, at no time would I have anticipated what was to come. Neither he nor his mother.

He had a very nice face. Blue eyes and blonde hair. He was tender. His mother suspects two major events for the start of Calvary. The first one refers to a day when your child cuts the tendon of one hand while in the yard and stops playing there. He begins to isolate himself at recess. The other, when the boy returns home and says that he has known the house of priests. The mother has reason to believe that it is at that moment that the first abuses occur.

He began to notice him quieter than usual and during the following years his academic performance began to decline. He was a good student. Suddenly, I was absent-minded. His mother knew something was happening to him, although he didn't say anything and no one seemed right about what was happening to him. When the boy reached the ninth grade, he told his mother that he did not want to return to school, but his mother's efforts to keep him in the institution were so great that he was forced to finish that year. He was able to attend two weeks of the following school year and his behavior began to worsen. Although he told his mother everything, he didn't dare to mention anything on that subject. “It's not that I didn't want to, it just couldn't, it caused him terrible pain,” Patricia says.

He barely finished school, and when he entered university, the young man had already developed a very strong depression. None of the ten psychiatrists he went through were enough. Only until 2016, Patricia managed to find an indication of the origin of everything in the letters Daniel had written since he was 12 years old. He realized that the child was a victim of sexual abuse and could not take it anymore. “He tells how vans came to school and took him to a place where different priests touched him.” The woman immediately went to the authorities, but the Prosecutor's Office learned about the case only until after the young man's death.

Before taking his own life, he wrote: “I'm leaving because I'm tired of this life.” He was 21 years old. He was forced to do so, a victim of his pain and because of the fear that they would do something to his family. In one of his letters he wrote: “Mommy, you want to know the name of the one who hurt my life, but I can't tell you because they kill us.” Daniel took the names of his abusers to the grave, leaving the mystery unrevealed.

“My life is over and the only thing I call for is justice, that everything comes to light,” Patricia assured, on more than one occasion. Even today, no details are known regarding possible actors. When can she finally feel calm? Where were the investigations?

Questions and more questions, and more like this that are increasingly coming to light. I hope light is enough to end the darkness that surrounds them.
