Although the Huistas operations have been located in the last three decades from Guatemala, the United States authorities are barely going for their top leader, Eugenio Darío Molina López, for whom they offer a $10 million reward for being identified as a supplier to the Jalisco Nueva Cartel Generation (CJNG) and the Sinaloa Cartel.

According to the US government, the Guatemalan cartel maintains links with Mexican criminal groups and is the link for the transfer of narcotics produced from South America. They also produce heroin and make methamphetamines.
Being in the middle of the transit route to the United States, they have supplied drugs with a well-established network. They are a fundamental link that began in 1990 and was established since 2010. However, little is known about them in Mexico.
