Three members of the Gulf Clan were killed in Acandí, Chocó

The National Police announced on Wednesday that three members of the Gulf Clan were killed in the rural area of the municipality of Acandí, Chocó. The men would be part of the Efrén Vargas Gutiérrez substructure, which is in command of alias 'Negro Perea'.

Operation Condor, the name given by the Institution to the offensive against the Gulf Clan, succeeded in the capture of another member, in addition to the three killed. In turn, three assault rifles, a pistol and the pieces of mortar (heavy artillery) used to attack the security forces were seized.

General Fernando Murillo, director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Interpol (Dijin), said that the substructure consisted of “at least 12 men, who were in the Chocoan Urabá, near the Panamanian border, generating fear and anxiety in the face of peasants and indigenous people.”

The uniformed man reported that this part of the outlaw group is dedicated to drug trafficking, committing murders against social leaders, and extorting and kidnapping. La Dijín also stated that alias' Pirulo 'or 'Alpha 6′ is the head of this armed commission, a position that was appointed to her by alias 'Negro Perea'.

Authorities confirmed Wednesday the capture of Enrique Blanco alias' Pedro ', 45, who was in charge of the criminal substructure Manuel José Gaitan, and served the Gulf Clan approximately ten years ago. According to the National Police, the criminal was captured in the municipality of Manati.

The investigation shows that alias' Pedro ', was a “fundamental piece in the process of expansion, settlement and criminal consolidation of the armed components of that organization in the department,” the Army said.

Enrique Blanco was in charge of the payroll of the criminal group and was the third ringleader captured in recent months, and they also highlighted the recent beatings inflicted on drug shipments of the narco-paramilitary group.

In Magdalena, the Army seized 173 kilos of cocaine after a group of uniformed soldiers from the Gaula Militar managed to locate two coves in the vicinity of the municipality of Ciénaga, where the Gulf Clan shipment was located. According to the authorities, the drug would be valued at more than 1,057 million pesos “and they sought to be marketed under the modality of microtrafficking with the aim of strengthening the finances of this criminal organization”.

Another 1,600 kilograms of cocaine were seized from the Gulf Clan in the Caribbean Sea. This was announced by the Colombian Navy after it carried out offensive operations against drug trafficking in the Colombian Caribbean and Pacific. There it managed to seize 5.4 tons of cocaine, “affecting the finances of the Organized Armed Group (GAO) Gulf Clan, with the loss of more than 188 million dollars”.
