Colombian footballer Andrés Ramiro Manga Escobar was sentenced to two and a half years in prison in Iceland for an allegation of sexual abuse against him while serving as a playing player for the Leiknir Reykjavík club in the capital of this European country.

With no sports contract involved or economic activity to sustain him in Iceland, the Colombian player tried to appeal the judicial determination for which he is accused, but in the absence of financial resources Escobar Díaz describes his current situation as something worse than being in prison and as a “murder”.

The former Millionarios player has given statements in several media outlets explaining his situation and defending himself against the complaint, but the Icelandic authorities have already taken action on the matter to make the Colombian pay for his crime in Reykjavik.

Manga has tried to manage his return to Colombia through the Foreign Ministry, however this Wednesday, March 23, the athlete spoke out from his Instagram account to inform that he is still waiting for the help of the national government, since he has already run out of all the saved money he had:

With his suitcases packed and his clothes lying on the floor, the footballer posted the message “murder in the first degree” in his Instagram stories, exclaiming for diplomatic help to solve his legal situation:

The Colombian is not yet deprived of his liberty, but he exclaims help because he says that all his human rights have been violated by forcing him to pay a sum of money that he does not have at this time:

The Colombian says he has the evidence to prove his innocence in the case that accuses him of taking advantage of a woman he could not resist because he was in a state of drunkenness and this report was recorded in the judgment of the National High Court that just ended this month.

Just as happened to Sebastián Villa, Roger Martínez, Jhon Viáfara, Anthony de Ávila, among others, Manga is in a completely extra-sporting situation that, unlike the previous cases, involves a sexual offence that would make him pay jail in Icelandic territory.

Well, the 30-year-old from Puerto Tejada is far from the courts and last Saturday, March 12, the fragment of a video of his in which he clarifies that he is not imprisoned or detained by the police, but remains in his apartment in Iceland waiting to show evidence of his innocence as part of the process of appealing the court decision, the main drawback, therefore, would be the lack of money to face his defense before the authorities:
