The Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) has designed a tool with which Colombians will be able to compare the prices of telephone and mobile internet services, as well as fixed internet, fixed telephony and subscription television available in Colombia.

This will be possible through the Mobile and Fixed Services Plan and Package Comparator, a site with centralized and up-to-date information that will allow you to make comparisons more easily and make informed decisions.

According to the CRC, the portal is supported by a technique called web scraping, which reads and stores information daily from the web pages of the different operators, and subsequently consolidates it on the same website, thus reducing search times and costs for users.

The tool was developed thanks to the joint work carried out by the CRC and the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, through their Lab 101 laboratory, and is a fundamental part of CRC's open data policy, as it allows to contribute to transparency and competitiveness of markets and at the same time leads to direct benefits for users.

By having centralized information on the tariff offers of the different operators, the user will be able to make comparisons to exercise their right to free choice, having relevant and up-to-date information to choose the operator and the tariff plan for the services they require,” said Paola Bonilla Castaño, Executive Director of CRC.

The CRC tool is hosted on this web portal and where you can find the plans and packages of all operators, in the prepaid and postpaid modalities and the plans and packages of fixed services at the municipal level provided by the main operators of fixed Internet or TV subscribers nationwide.

The developed tool allows you to compare up to 4 plans simultaneously, visualizing the set of features of the services that the user is looking for. In this way, the similarities and differences between the plans are identified, facilitating decision-making.

And it also has a variety of filters that allow the user to select the service that best suits their needs, for example, they can select the price range they would be willing to pay, the amount of data they are interested in contracting, and the mode (prepaid - postpaid).

Likewise, the Comparator has links that redirect the user directly to the web portals of the respective operators to deepen information such as contact points for contracting services, access to terms and conditions, among others, to complement the user's decision.

Below you can see a video tutorial prepared by the CRC:

On March 22, a complaint was aired on W Radio about one of the candidates for executive in the CRC that he has been sued by the same commission.

The character is Francisco Castro Córdoba, who is also director of the company Tellbroad, involved in a CRC scandal, for participating in a selection process submitted false documentation in 2020.

A process that the CRC declared void and sued it before the Prosecutor's Office, involving those who now want to be commissioned.

According to the complainant, Orlando Rojas, director of the portal Evaluemos.com, told the station that “the company (the candidate's) in partnership with a foreign company submitted false documentation, the CRC was able to verify it and was forced to file a criminal complaint with the Prosecutor's Office.”

Faced with the situation, Civil Service responded and assured that since there is no judgment or conviction, the applicant can reach the last stage.
