Last Wednesday, March 23, there was a new protest against a school in the south of Bogotá, due to the complaint of a mother of a family of the alleged sexual abuse against her five-year-old son inside the institution.
According to the residents' accounts, the first day of protest began on March 22 after hearing the story of the mother of the affected minor, who assured that the directors of the institution had been negligent in this case. Last Wednesday things got out of control and some of the protesters set fire to the school facilities.
The complaint that unleashed the fury of parents and neighbors in the sector
According to a statement issued by the family of the child under the age of five, who would be the victim of sexual abuse, the boy informed his mother that a teacher at the Nuevo chile school, located in the Olarte neighborhood (in Bosa), would be doing abusive touching on his private parts.
When the mother of the family found out about the situation, according to the statement, she went to the school to make a complaint to the institution's directors last Friday, March 18. In response to this call from the child's mother, the school's guidance office would have referred the child to the UPA del Olarte.
In that place, after carrying out some examinations, a psychologist would have established that the minor was the victim of presumptive sexual abuse. Later, according to the statement, the child was hospitalized and the next day he was sent to a specialized center of the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF) where he is again evaluated and the results are the same.
Although the reports of the psychologists who evaluated the minor coincide, according to her family, so far there is no opinion from Legal Medicine.
School managers did not take the position that the family expected for this type of case
According to the same document, the child's mother gave timely notice to school directors about the alleged case of sexual abuse committed by one of the teachers on the school campus; however, no action had been taken in the matter.
Likewise, the boy's relatives assured that the school counselor tried to persuade and even threaten the child's mother in order not to report this fact. According to the statement, the official told the woman that if the examinations did not show any irregularities, the institution would sue her. Likewise, he hinted, according to the victim's family, that it was a montage by the counselor who wanted to remove the named professor from office.
After two days of protests, the teacher accused of alleged sexual abuse against a five-year-old boy at the Nuevo Chile school was removed from office. Likewise, the minor was removed from the institution and the family filed the respective complaint with the Attorney General's Office.
