Six people were killed in the last 48 hours in Bogotá and Medellin

In both cases, the victims were killed by hit men with firearms

The delicate situation of violence in the country is of concern to both authorities and humanitarian entities that seek to find solutions to this social problem. In the last 48 hours, two massacres have been recorded in the national territory, one in Bogotá and the other in Medellin, leaving six fatalities. So far both events are under investigation by the competent authorities in these two cities.

The first criminal incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, March 23, in the south of Bogotá, specifically in the Compostela neighborhood of the town of Usme, where three people were killed with firearms in the house where they were staying, were two men and one woman, the victims of this armed attack that on the day of today it upsets this popular neighborhood. CityTV was able to establish contact with a community leader, who said that these people had been suffering persecution for some time, which is why they asked the authorities for protection. Although the day before the events there was a patrol of the falcon helicopter in the area, late at night, the armed incursion of the criminals ended the lives of these people.

According to the authorities, this crime would be directly related to a settling of accounts between drug trafficking gangs. The identification of the bodies could have concluded that among the victims are aliases 'El Pastuso' and alias 'La Negra', while the one who ordered the crime would be alias 'El Caleño', this, as a retaliation for the capture of two of his men, since allegedly the victims of the massacre were those who reported these men to the Police, as CityTV was able to establish.

Similarly, in the capital of eternal spring, last Tuesday night was dark, after a triple crime was reported in the Robledo neighborhood in western Medellín. The victims were identified as Victor Hugo Echeverri Moreno, Édison Noel Pineda and Darwin Alejandro Ochoa Batista, Echeverri had Colombian-Venezuelan nationality while Pineda and Ochoa were of Venezuelan origin.

The deceased were found in a garbage dump with gunshot wounds. After learning about the fact, Mayor Daniel Quintero expressed his concern about this situation, noting that an event of this magnitude has not occurred for more than two years in the city, he said that every life counts and that, from the local administration, up to 120 million pesos are being offered for information that allows us to find the whereabouts of criminals.

The president of the people of Medellin said: “In other governments they might have said that they were associated with criminal groups, or perhaps because they were Venezuelans, then one does not pursue it, we pursue it with the same forcefulness, we offer up to 120 million pesos for information that helps us capture and prosecute criminals. At the moment, the entire team of the Prosecutor's Office, Sijin, Dipol and the Metropolitan Police are working and we will find the perpetrators.” .

With these two criminal acts, there are already 25 massacres in Colombia so far in 2022, according to Indepaz. In 2020, the Ombudsman's Office issued early warning 032-20, warning about the presence of armed groups in the capital of Antioquia, determining the imminent risk of extortion, homicide and threats against the population. In turn, Bogotá was alerted that same year by the presence of microtrafficking gangs in the town of Usaquén, as the territorial dispute constantly increased violent actions in this area. One of the factors of particular incidence in this type of case is the territorial control exercised by criminal groups, in order to appropriate drug trafficking routes in different regions of the country.
