Rebeca Escribens did not hesitate to raise her voice of protest against the comparisons that many users made on Twitter between actresses Stephanie Cayo and Magaly Solier after the controversy broke out over the films Until we meet again and Lina in Lima.
It should be noted that his statement comes after the strong criticism that the member of the Cayo family has been receiving for starring in the first Peruvian film recorded for Netflix, since many assured that she did not represent the Andean women who exist in our country since they live abroad.
Users immediately compared her to the lead in 'Teta Astada' because she announced that she will release her next Chilean film in Peruvian cinemas next Thursday, March 24.
“Stephanie is a compliant actress not bad, and with international success the best and most awarded is Magaly Solier. Stephanie has not won anything at an acting level, neither in Peru nor abroad (abroad), that success is more because she is well-known and very beautiful”, reads on Twitter.
That is why, the show host used her morning television space to address all the viewers and followers of both national film figures and ask them to stop facing the actresses, as they are both very good at their jobs.
“Finally, they are both Peruvian, they have both had the opportunity, like many Peruvian actresses, to play the character that Stephanie Cayo has played in 'I will find you again', the first Peruvian film on Netflix,” began by saying the host of América Espectáculos.
“I beg you on social networks and in general to stop being at odds with these two wonderful actresses of international renown, on their side Stephanie Cayo and on the other to Magaly Solier, congratulations to both of them for their work, excellent actresses,” he added.
It is worth mentioning that when it was announced that Netflix would make its first production in Peru, a few days later the COVID-19 pandemic began and it had to be suspended, so it was not known if this project would finally see the light.
BRUNO ASCENZO ALSO DEFENDS HIMSELF AGAINST CRITICISM
After the release of his film, director Bruno Ascenzo had an interview with RPP and pointed out that the idea of having recorded in different parts of our country was to attract the attention of foreign audiences and thus encourage them to visit Peru.
“It is important that we realize what we have, many countries use the film industry to make themselves known to the world: 'Game of Thrones' and Croatia, many productions that help to reactivate certain industries that have been affected by the pandemic. I wish the film was able to contribute to it and achieve it a little bit, with that to say: 'task accomplished'”, he said.
“My idea was to make a travel film, initially it wasn't a 100% romantic comedy, that started to be built once Netflix entered the gaming scene, but it was a film that was sketched, it could be like that, I would like to go to such locations, at the beginning you didn't go through the three locations where in the end you were rolled”, he commented.
