There is no room for mistakes or to miss any opportunity to score and secure our South American quota.

The presence of the 'Tigre' in the team of all Peruvians caused the whole country to surrender to his talent and professionalism at the time of directing. But what happened to the national team before their arrival? In the preview of the decisive match Peru vs. Uruguay, we remember the path that the Peruvian idols went through to defend the bicolor on international courts.

A TIMELINE OF CLASSIFICATIONS

- URUGUAY 1930: The world cup adventure in the history of Peruvian football began with this sporting event. Peru participated in the first edition of a World Cup when invited by the host country, so we cannot consider it as a classification in itself. The team of that era faced Uruguay and Romania, racking up two defeats in their debut.

- MEXICO 70: this is one of the most memorable appearances by Peruvian fans, as we left Argentina without the World Cup thanks to the magic of 'Cachito' Ramírez in La Bombonera, silencing an entire stadium with his two successes. In the group stage, the Peruvian national team defeated Bulgaria and Morocco. We fell before the power of Federal Germany and this chapter ended up losing to Brazil.

The Peruvians managed to reach the second stage in which they faced the powers of Brazil, Poland and Argentina. In no one did we add a victory.

- SPAIN 82: The Peruvian team qualified and played the first phase of the World Cup against Italy, Cameroon and Poland. What was the result they got? We tied with the first two teams and fell 5-1 with the Europeans. What happened on the court caused us to finish last in the group, causing our elimination.

- RUSSIA 2018: Already under the direction of Ricardo Gareca, the Peruvian team took shape thanks to discipline and perseverance. His journey led us to face in a stage of revenge against New Zealand. This scenario was decisive to be able to return to a World Cup after 36 years of being absent and not having excelled in the South American qualifiers. The cry of the whole country came at the National Stadium when the referee announced the end of the match, ending with our guaranteed quota for the highest football event. The goals of Christian Ramos and Jefferson Marcaron tipped the scales in our favor, arousing an endless party in every corner of Peru.

PERÚ RUMBO A QATAR 2022

Technical Director Ricardo Gareca has had new options to strengthen his team. Among them, Gianluca Lapadula, who has won the love of all Peruvians, not only because of his dedication on the court, but because of the respect he has with the rival.

To the pity of many, on this decisive double date to step on Qatar 2022, Jefferson Farfán and Paolo Guerrero will not participate, who have left a mark on the white-red. The results of these last matches define the fate of the team in view of the celebration that will begin in November.
