Authorities are investigating the death of a taxi driver identified as Jhon Fredy Quiceno López who was found lifeless inside his vehicle, in the Juan Pablo II neighborhood, in the town of Ciudad Bolivar without signs of violence. He was complying with a service requested by the platform, an unknown person was with him and had expressed distrust of the situation through a chat with a colleague.
As Colonel Jhon Frank Buitrago, commander of the Ciudad Bolivar Police, told City Noticias, the community alerted the quadrant to the discovery of the body of a taxi driver, inside the vehicle at dawn this Wednesday.
He was a 28-year-old boy who had been a taxi driver for three years, but on his body there was no sign of violence until the authorities managed to verify preliminarily. In addition, all his belongings were inside the vehicle.
For this reason, the authorities are considering the possibility of death due to health conditions, as the colonel told the Alerta Bogotá radio station. But that cause is not supported by the last messages that Quiceno López sent to a friend, also a taxi driver, minutes before he lost his life.
The young driver had arrived in the Juan Pablo II neighborhood, in the south of the capital, to carry out a shuttle service requested through the Taxis Libres application, to the airport at 4:00 in the morning.
Apparently, according to the news program City Noticias, the taxi driver arrived at the pick-up point and there he met who would be the passengers. Through WhatsApp he told a colleague where he was because he felt distrust, because he was asked to go to a place that the guild already has referred to as a crime trap against him.
“It's in the middle of the parking lot. No, there is a man that... I don't know what to do,” says Quinceno in one of the revealed audios. Apparently, there were two men, who he thought were passengers and who asked him to move forward with the excuse of picking up the mother who had to go to the airport urgently.
The colleague with whom he communicated, alerted him to run away. “Are you telling him that because of the parking lot in the back up? That's a berth, they did it to me the other day. Don't go in. Open up from there. That's lucky,” his friend told him worried.
He recommended that it be returned, even in spite of the platform's penalty. “If the consultant calls you say, that is a pot, a dead end, what am I going to get into. Get out of there. If you are gross, what are you getting into, stop being so hungry,” a taxi driver friend told Quinceno, as revealed by Blu Radio.
But the taxi driver was unable to react despite the mistrust. “It's severe, I already got in”, was the last audio he sent to his partner and minutes later he was found dead inside his vehicle. However, although witnesses and audios indicate that it could have been a robbery, there are no signs of violence in the body, so investigations must clarify what happened.
Just a few hours earlier, on March 23, in the Manuela Beltrán neighborhood of the town of Ciudad Bolívar, a 45-year-old taxi driver was killed, who received two bullet wounds in the head when he was going to enter his house.
The vehicle in which he was killed was also affiliated with the Taxis Libres company. The man bled to death after the shot that would have been fired with a gun with a silencer, because the neighbors did not notice the murder until some time later. Authorities are investigating a theft or reckoning for debts with a drop of a drop.
