Mayor of Morena in Coahuila was caught throwing thousands of pesos during his son's baptism

This is the second time that “Mayito” has been caught in a similar attitude, because before becoming mayor of San Juan de Sabinas, he was caught drunk and with a stack of banknotes

The governments led by the National Regeneration Movement (Morena) continue to give something to talk about, and not because of the good way you govern, but because they give statements or actions that go viral and are questioned by citizens, politicians and opposition personalities.

Such was the case of the mayor of San Juan de Sabinas, in the state of Coahuila, who was caught throwing thousands of pesos, in national bills and dollars, during the traditional “bolo” he performed at the christening of his youngest son.

His name is Mario Alberto López Gámez, known as Mayito, who was exhibited on social networks while performing this act with several bundles of banknotes in his hand. Next to him, his partner and other family members smile as he throws the money without worry.

At least twenty minors gathered where the 200 and 500 pesos bills fell, in addition to a few dollars. Witnesses reportedly said that, at least, the Morenista would have distributed 100,000 pesos in this act alone.

In addition to this waste of money, Mayito also had four live music groups, mariachi, banquet and a great fireworks show during the celebration held in a large garden that allowed the installation of a stage.

So far, the mayor has not issued any statement in this regard. It is expected that in the next few hours he will clarify the situation and announce where the 100 thousand pesos he launched on March 18 came from at the Hunting, Shooting and Fishing Club of Nueva Rosita, where the party allegedly took place.

This is not the first time that López Gámez has been involved in such a controversy. During the pre-election campaign held in 2021, the politician was evidenced in a state of intoxication and with piles of 500 peso bills.

The recording was shared in March of the previous year to reveal the ways in which this renowned character is handled in the coal region. Mayito is in a vehicle with at least three other people.

The whole time the material lasted, the Morenista and his companions were smiling as they sing, because one of them sitting at the back was playing an acoustic guitar, and another was singing a violin.

In addition to the video, a photograph was also revealed in which he looks very smiling holding a stack of 500 peso bills, after being singled out to give money to support his own campaign.

At the time, this attitude was harshly criticized by characters both inside and outside Morena, although the voices of the opposition were heard to leave the candidate of the party founded by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) himself.

In this way came June 6, 2021, election day. In them, López Gámez was victorious and was recognized as elected mayor of San Juan de Sabinas, since he took office on January 1, 2022, accompanied by his council and family.

“Everything with the people, nothing without it (...) As of today I will govern for all citizens without distinction from political parties, this will be an open-door administration to receive citizens' requests, which will be taken into account to transform a prosperous municipality,” the Morenista said during the ceremony.
