Mauricio Kuri González, governor of the state of Querétaro for the National Action Party (PAN), attended last Monday the inauguration of the new Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA) and, in this regard, set aside the ideological differences with Andrés Manuel López Obrador and acknowledged the work done by the administration of the president so that after 22 years there will be a new airport in Mexico.

“What I saw from Felipe Ángeles airport - you can tell me a lot of things - but I didn't see the hill they had said, I saw a very dignified airport and finally there is an airport after 22 years,” Mauricio Kuri said during a public event.

Likewise, he shared that after returning from the inauguration to Querétaro, he read and received many comments from people who criticized the appearance and functioning of Andrés Manuel López Obrador's great work, which he described as “petty”.

The PAN governor of Querétaro also admitted that during the 2018 presidential elections he did not vote for Andrés Manuel López Obrador because there are things in the president's vision that he does not agree with, however, he asserted that he is his president so he hoped it would do very well during his term.

“I think Mexico is much more than that, that we should want what is best for the president because if the president is doing well, Mexico will do very well,” said Mauricio Kuri.

The former senator pointed out that the “meanness” of citizens is not leaving Mexico anything good and even evoked the situation that occurred at the beginning of March in the Estadio Corregidora during the second half of the match corresponding to matchday 9 between Querétaro and Atlas. Scandal in which the governor of the state was accused of withholding information about the number of injured in the pitched fight.

On March 5, members of the animation groups from Querétaro and Atlas unleashed a pitched battle in the stands of the Corregidora Stadium during matchday 9 of the 2022 Clausura Tournament. Police officers were unable to contain the conflict, prompting hundreds of fans to enter the pitch to escape the violent mobilization, although there were also clashes over the grass.

The sporting event had to be suspended as entire families and fans sought to take shelter on the stadium court Corregidora while the persecutions between members of the animation groups continued in each of the corners of the venue.

After the unfortunate event, shocking videos circulated on social networks showing fans who had been brutally beaten and whose bodies were lying unconscious inside the Corregidora Stadium. However, the authorities began the respective investigations and pointed out that there were no deaths after the confrontation, a statement that caused citizens to accuse Mauricio Kuri of withholding information.

In response to these comments, the governor of Querétaro held meetings with staff from Club Querétaro, Liga MX and the Mexican Football Federation (Femexfut) and assured that the local administration would not withhold information about what happened on the pitch of La Corregidora Stadium.

We're not going to hide anything. I know that the images of the stadium are disturbing and that the names of people who have allegedly died have been disseminated; but today we confirm that fortunately they are ALIVE and receiving medical attention,” Mauricio Kuri explained in a video shared on his social networks.

So far, the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection has announced that a total of 35 search warrants have been completed in five municipalities in the state of Querétaro, which have resulted in the detention of 25 persons. Of that number, four are accused of attempted homicide, while the other vast majority are accused of violence in public spectacles.
