From March 23rd to 30th of this month, Colombian film and television will pay tribute to the late film director Jaime Osorio. The filmmaker, who insisted, among other things, on bringing the horror genre to life in Colombia, died in December 2021. To honor his life, on the small and big screen, his creations will be broadcast.
In Cali, the city where he was born, in Medellín and Bogotá, events will be held to highlight his life and work. Among his family and close friends, as well as his colleagues from companies such as Rhajuela Films, Marginal Cine and WarnerMedia Latin America, there will be an exclusive screening of the first two episodes of the HBO series Max Mil Fangs, the last production he did before he died. It will then be until the 30th of this month that his feature films “El Páramo” and “Siete Cabezas” will also be broadcast.
“Jaime Osorio, I feel, was the great reference for terror in Colombia and Latin America. It was enough for me to get into his world. He has another film called 'El Paramo' and another that is called 'Seven Heads'. Seeing his world, as he thinks, I feel it was enough, talking to him was a very good thing, any doubt, I had the right person next to clarify them (...) It was enough to generate a personal/professional relationship with him. Jaime was very clear about it. His way of making terror is very Colombian,” said Colombian actress Carolina Ribón, star of Mil Fangs, in an interview with Infobae.

It was on December 23, 2021 that Jaime Osorio underwent euthanasia. The filmmaker suffered from cancer, and decided to end his life in order to avoid the health damage that this disease entailed him. He was 43 years old when his death occurred.
Osorio became one of the most important film personalities in Colombia. In his name there are awards such as Citizen Kane for revelation director. He won this recognition at the 44th edition of the Sitges Fantastic Film Festival, Spain, with “El Páramo”. He also won the award for Best Ibero-American Screenplay at the Guadalajara International Film Festival. 'Thousand Fangs' was shortlisted in the Platinum Awards and was nominated in 5 categories at the India Catalina Awards.
“Jaime's death is very present. I am very grateful that I have been part of his world, like, I am still in bad shape because of what happened and I don't know if I'm romanticizing a lot, but I feel very lucky to be one of the few female actresses who could work with him,” she said, excited, before making excuses for her desire to cry. “To represent the female character he was looking for, I am very honored. It was four very strong months in which we were put to the limit in everything, but I think that no one will ever be able to live that kind of experience again, it is something that the entire cast of Thousand Fangs agrees on. It's a unique experience,” Carolina continued with difficulty as she wiped tears from her cheeks.
