Frailejón Ernesto Pérez has a coastal cousin, his name is Man Glar

The mayor's office of Barranquilla joined the trend caused by the animated character by creating its own representation of mangroves

The star of social networks in recent weeks has been Frailejón Ernesto Pérez, an animated character from Señal Colombia who has gradually regained prominence, however, this week the new member of his family came to know, because from Barranquilla in commemoration of International Water Day, the local administration of this city, created the character Man Glar, highlighting this component of the Caribbean flora and the predominance it has in the connection of the sweet and salty aquatic bodies.

The presentation of Man Glar took place in the middle of son vallenato with an animated song in the middle of the accordion and guacharaca melody. The exhibition of this character tells the main characteristics of the mangrove forest, which prevails in the areas surrounding the connection between rivers and seas, highlighting its presence in salt water. As described in the song, this composition derived from the mangrove tree, helps prevent storms and maintain temperature control in island areas.

Likewise, the musical composition highlights the presence of animals in these intertidal areas, since on many occasions both birds and terrestrial species seek refuge in mangroves. Likewise, these tree bodies prevent the passage of pollutants from rivers to the sea, although this task is not done by 100%, their contribution represents a significant reduction in substances that can affect marine life.

Finally, as a message of awareness, the population is invited to take care of these areas by avoiding logging and pollution, since their presence within the ecosystem is necessary to maintain a continuous balance in the flora and fauna of the entire national territory. In this case, with this production, the mayor's office of Barranquilla highlights the convergence of the river and the sea in the Mallorquín Swamp, located on the road that leads to Bocas de Ceniza.

Although the initiative seeks to raise awareness of environmental care, Man Glar's presentation has received criticism for the musical genre that has been used for its animation, as many have made the comparison with Frailejón Ernesto Pérez, considering it more aesthetic, questioning the production and discourse broadcast in the campaign promoted by the mayor's office of Jaime Pumarejo.

When opening social networks many hear: “Hello, my name is Frailejón, Ernesto Pérez, I come to greet you, you don't know me, but I am you, yes, I am your friend, your friend, your friar friend”, this song returned to the arena with a Tik Tok publication of the Señal Colombia Channel, because this character was part of a production made in 2018, titled Magic Tale, this series is focused precisely on children, it had different characters in relation to nature and didactic content, the character of Frailejón gained strength after a chapter where the importance of plants was shown.

Although the message was initially focused on children, it is a commitment that belongs to society as a whole, considering that it invites us to promote recycling, take care of water and save energy, as well as highlighting his work as a promoter of vital liquid. The song has become a hit on social networks, even personalities and artists have joined this trend by singing the song and dancing it to their rhythm; performing covers and different performances with the voice of Frailejón Ernesto Pérez in the background. The voice that gives life to the animated character is that of Carlos Andrés Correa, who together with Señal Colombia has shared different experiences with netizens on social networks, in relation to the importance of this plant.
