After a Twitter user accused Edgar Oceransky of apparent harassment of minors, two of his concerts were canceled and many people said they were outraged by his actions, it should be clarified that the alleged crime was reported by an audio published on the account @anhele.
Given this, Oceransky issued a press release in which he said he was innocent, asked for a public apology, explained that he has already taken legal action for defamation and spoke about how he has reflected respect for women in his themes and poems, specifically Images of Ana; Sleep Quiet, The Other Half of the World and Goddesses.
“To the media and the general public, after the false accusations that were made against me on social networks in recent days and which had consequences for me, my career, my family and my collaborators, I want to tell them that we have taken appropriate legal action and that we will reach their last consequences.” , explained the singer-songwriter in his YouTube video.
In the recording, the singer also explained that the controversial sketch was taken out of context and, moreover, it was already over 13 years old since it was published. It should be recalled that the passage that unleashed the accusations read as follows:
“I went to Spain to give some concerts, it occurred to me to talk about one of my preferences, I like diversity, right? I'm not afraid, I like diversity but my deepest preference is teenage girls, right? That they still have the face of public ministry, yes, look it is better to go to the boat for a little girl than for the breathalyzer, I know what I tell you. And the girls you see, name, well feminists told me: 'but uncle, how is it possible that you like 16′ and I from 'your boyfriend also likes them just that they don't leave him in your country, that's the difference'”, were the alleged words of Oceransky in the audio shared by Twitter user @anhele.
In this regard, Oceransky regretted the smear against him and explained that he did not understand why some media disseminated the accusation as a truth and without “the slightest respect for the human right of “Presumption of Innocence”, because according to the singer, there is not a single legal complaint against him and his concerts are canceled without a substantiated explanation.
The suspended events would have taken place last Saturday, March 12 at 8:30pm in the Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez auditorium in the state of Querétaro and on Wednesday, March 16 at the National Auditorium in Mexico City.
In his statement, Edgar Oceransky also issued a public apology while clarifying that the sketch had been decontextualized:
In his message, the singer also explained that he is much more interested in prestige than fame, so he was not using this “scandal” to gain recognition, “I have always expressed love and respect for women in my songs because I was raised by one woman and I am raising two others,” he said.
