Congress: Popular Renewal confirms that it will support the censorship of Minister Hernán Condori

Just over a week after his visit to Congress, the Minister of Health, Hernán Condori, would be about to be censored. As the hours pass, several benches announce their position against the aforementioned process, the most recent being that of Popular Renewal . The celestial bench, through its spokesperson, Jorge Montoya , confirmed that they will vote in favor of censorship after reading the initiative document.

“The whole bench will support censorship. We read the motion of censure yesterday afternoon, we hadn't seen it. When we read him, we agreed with his concepts and that is why we signed it,” Montoya said in conversation with the press. It should be recalled that after the interpellation of Hernán Condori, the Congressman of Popular Renewal said that they would take a month as time to evaluate his position on the tenure of the head of health.

“At no time have we changed our opinion, we have maintained it, what happens is that there is a process that is followed alongside that is not normally done. After the interpellation, it is necessary to compare with real and true data in order to be able to know what it is about,” he said as a justification for the decision described above.

The motion of censure that gathers the signing of 33 congressmen has been endorsed by members of Acción Popular, Alliance for Progress, Somos Peru, Together for Peru, Podemos Peru, the non-grouped members of the Purple Party, Popular Renewal and its main promoter, Avanza Pais. Fuerza Popular did not manage to obtain any signature; however, Congressman Orange, Hernando Guerra García, said that “votes matter more than signatures (for the motion of censure).”

THE JUSTIFICATIONS

It did not take many hours after Hernán Condori was sworn in as Minister of Health for the various questions against him to be revealed. The criticism that gained the most notoriety was based on a video in which he is seen promoting a product whose effectiveness has not been scientifically proven. Days later, during a session of the Council of Ministers, I would lie pointing out that it had been endorsed by the FDA.

The motion of censure filed against him, accounts for this question and points out that Condori “practiced the profession inadequately by promoting the sale of Cluster X2 ('cluster water'), attributing medicinal properties that are not proven or certified by any official or academic authority”.

Another publication would reveal that the current minister of health was promoting a service for the diagnosis of cervical cancer in 1 minute, despite not having the specialty of gynecology and oncology.

“Hernán Condori Machado has not demonstrated the ability to hold office either. Thus, from a review of the resume and experience in public health management, it can be seen that the Minister of Health was appointed as Regional Director of Health in Junín on January 2, 2020 and remained in office until January 8 of the same year. On that occasion he was removed from office due to lack of suitability to hold office”, reads the document signed by 33 parliamentarians.

The Congress of the Republic has not been the only institution seeking Hernán Condori's departure from office. For its part, the Medical College of Peru has even organized demonstrations outside the Ministry of Health to demand the resignation of the holder of this portfolio. For his part, Condori said that he can only wait for Parliament's verdict on his future in office.
