As a way to encourage entrepreneurs to put renewable energy into their businesses, the government of Mexico City, through the Ministry of Economic Development (Sedeco), confirmed that it will begin providing support to meet this goal.
In a statement, the capital authorities announced the guidelines for implementing the “Solar Energy for MSMEs” program, which will have an amount of 3,500,000 pesos that will be distributed among all beneficiaries.
This financing, integrated into the Operation of the Institutional Action for the Promotion of Transition and Economic Sustainability in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, aims to integrate renewable energy into this sector of the population that is so important to the capital government.
It is planned to promote the installation of solar water and photovoltaic heating systems through four measures:
1. Provide technical and economic assistance for the correct choice of Energy Systems.
2. Establish mechanisms to link with funding sources with extensive experience in the development of renewable projects such as the Trust for the Saving of Electric Energy (FIDE).
3. Incorporate suppliers of quality solar technologies.
4. Direct financial support to applicant MSMEs that meet the requirements.
The target population of this program, according to Sedeco CDMX, is all individuals with business activity, as well as legal entities stratified as micro, small or medium-sized enterprises whose economic activity corresponds to trade or industry with high energy consumption.
Such supports will have the characteristic of choosing the type of solar system needed for the work facilities. In addition, it will have the ability to identify the needs of the entrepreneur and its MSME to carry out the correct acquisition and installation of the system.
It will also have investment support which will depend on the technology selected. The capital's dependency announced the four types described below.
1. Photovoltaic systems: No limit on the cost or capacity of the system//Investment support of 20%/Maximum amount of 180 thousand pesos.
2. Equipment for interconnected photovoltaic system up to 2 kWp capacity: System costs up to 60 thousand pesos/20% investment support (only for photovoltaic system inputs)/Maximum amount of 12,000 pesos.
3. Solar water heating systems: No limit on the cost or capacity of the system//Investment support of 40%/Maximum amount of 200 thousand pesos.
4. Solar water heating systems for microenterprises: System costs of up to 15,000 pesos//Investment support of 60% /Maximum amount of 9,000 pesos.
Sedeco revealed that those interested in registering and participating to acquire one of these benefits must meet, among other requirements, with:
- Proof of address in the CDMX of the business premises.
- Proof of address of the MSME holder.
- Opinion on favorable compliance with tax obligations (maximum age of 30 days).
- Proof of the tax status of the legal person regime, natural person with business activity, tax incorporation regime, simplified trust regime, cooperative society with a seniority of no more than six months.
- Installations with a clear, firm and sunny surface on which it is feasible to install either of the two systems.
