Who is Eva María Abad? The story of the exvedette who walked away from the show because of her drug addiction

Eva María Abad has returned to the front pages of the national press, but not for good reasons. The exvedette was seized by agents of the Peruvian National Police (PNP) after being discovered carrying and leaving six war grenades near the home of her former partner, a former army colonel, in the district of Surco.

During her transfer to the district police station, Abad explained that the six grenades did not belong to her, but to Luis Enrique Marca Silva, with whom she had an affair in the past. “He is the hero of Chavín de Huántar, he kept them there,” he said for Latina's cameras.

The exvedette admitted to abandoning the explosives on public roads, precisely under a car, after having an argument with Marca Silva. However, he stressed that he did so in order to save his life.

“I did that so he wouldn't kill me, because yesterday we had argued. I took it out thinking I was going to use it because yesterday we had discussed it,” said Eva Maria in the police patrol.

For his part, Luis Marca was also arrested and when asked why he kept these grenades in his home, he only managed to answer: “I am a bank robber”. In front of her ex-partner, she even admitted that he threatened her because she is a cannibal and “wanted to eat it”.

Although it sounds unusual, it is not the first time that Eva María Abad has starred in a media scandal. In fact, he rose to fame several years ago because of his problems with the police and because of his drug addiction. Here is a brief review of his life.

WHO IS EVA MARIA ABAD?

Eva María Avad is a former vedette and dancer born in Pucallpa and raised in Lima, remembered for her phrase “Everyone who makes their poto a carnival”. Due to her slim figure, she earned her place on stage by wearing feather and sequined costumes. However, his story turned dark when he hit rock bottom because of problems with drugs, alcohol and prostitution.

His childhood was not easy at all. As she revealed during an interview for the extinct program La Noche es Mía, she was sexually raped by an employee who works at home. He was only 8 years old at the time.

But that was not the only complicated event she had to go through at a young age, since she got pregnant. A clandestine abortion was performed thanks to the $500 that her ex-partner gave her to lose the baby.

“I was so immature that I did it. It's the only thing I regret in my life. I would have liked to stay with (the baby). When that happened, he didn't accompany me, it was in a very ugly place... I saw it in my hand (the fetus)”, he said.

Subsequently, Abad entered the art world in the matinee and vermouth performances offered by the now defunct Lido cinema, where erotic dancers were presented looking to earn a place in the middle.

LEAP TO FAME

His triumphant return was made in the adult magazine “Cueros”, being the protagonist of the first editions. She was also part of the erotic program that was broadcast weekly on television on Channel 33.

Months later, he had a legal confrontation with the company, alleging unpaid fees, fraud, sexual harassment and commercial exploitation of his photographs without his consent. As a result, they were ordered to be withdrawn. Nowadays, these covers are a collection number appreciated by collectors.

It was around that time that she met Maribel Velarde, forming a duo of much-requested friends in theaters, television sets and meetings.

BEGINNINGS IN PROSTITUTION AND DRUG USE

Although she always denied having been an escort lady despite the strong rumors, Eva María Abad ended up confessing that she dedicated herself to prostitution when she works at the Suite de Barranco, a place known for camouflaging the practice of prostitution with live erotic shows. Her first time was with a man of German nationality.

“I worked in the Barranco Suite. Yeah, I worked there. I used to work and date men. I used to prostitute myself there. They paid me 400 dollars,” said Abad, acknowledging that this trade led her to drugs “because in the meantime there are people who consume, and to keep him company, I did it too.”

It was Andrés Hurtado, current host of “Because Today is Saturday with Andrés”, who took her out of that world and offered her work as a model for the program “Dare with Andrés”.

LINKS WITH CROMWELL GÁLVEZ

Eva María Abad revealed that it was her own friend Maribel who introduced her to Cromwell Gálvez, known as the 'Banker of the Vedettes' for having systematically stolen 32 million soles from BBVA.

According to his statements, the man - who was sentenced to 8 years in prison and is now at liberty - proposed to him “fulfill his fantasies” with his cousin in exchange for 10 thousand dollars. Abad accepted without imagining the ordeal he lived that night in 2006 at the hotel.

As she reported at the time, she was extorted with the dissemination of the intimate video, which ended up coming to light. This fact ended up leading her to depression and repeated drug use.

“First I started using cocaine once a week, then every day. He did it at night and didn't stop until the next day. I was afraid. I thought I was being filmed everywhere. I even covered my windows,” he said.

After that, his placement in a rehabilitation center due to his drug addiction was made public. However, it relapsed some time later.

SENTENCED TO PRISON

When the investigation of the crime committed by Cromwell Gálvez began, 30 people, including vedettes and actresses, were investigated for benefiting from this illicit money. They all denied their ties to Galvez, but the sex tape of Eva María Abad gave her away without needing a confession.

The exvedette was sentenced to 3 years of suspended imprisonment and to the payment of civil reparation of 35 thousand nuevos soles. Other dancers prosecuted were Maribel Velarde, Monica Adaro and Lucy Cabrera.

On the other hand, vedettes Iris Loza, Martha Chuquipiondo, Lucy Bacigalupo and Hussein Villanueva were given arrest warrants for not having been present during the reading of the sentence.

REAPPEARANCE ON PERUVIAN TV

After being interned again for 14 months in rehab due to her drug addiction due to an overdose, Eva María Abad tried to return to the small screen as a vedette in 2014, assuring that her life had changed course.

However, she didn't go any further until she made headlines again when she was arrested by the Peruvian National Police carrying and leaving six war grenades two blocks away from her ex-partner's home.
