Future plans in Saúl Alvarez's career did not end with the confirmation of his fight against Dmitry Bivol for the World Boxing Association (WBA) belt in light heavyweight. According to the promoter Matchroom Boxing, the Mexican could face three fights throughout 2022. Although there are rumors that point to a possible rematch with Gennady Golovkin in September, the promoter of his last fights announced who he could face in December.

Eddie Hearn was present at the official presentation of the brawl between Joshua Buatsi and Craig Richards, two boxers who have led part of their careers in the 175 pound category. In that sense, he assured that if Canelo Álvarez overcomes the challenge against Dmitry Bivol, he would have the opportunity to defend the light heavyweight pack against the winner between Buatsi and Richards.

“Just wait, you know we have the Canelo vs Bivol fight to come. Maybe he will get the winner, for both of them (Joshua Buatsi and Craig Richards) on May 21, the one who is victorious could go against the winner of Canelo and Bivol and the losers would still be relevant,” he said in an interview for the TalkSport Boxing microphones.
