This Wednesday, March 23, Tránsito de Bogotá reported blocked by a demonstration on Avenida NQS with 75th street north/south.
So far it is known that a group of approximately 20 people blocked the TransMilenio exclusive road, as well as the mixed road. The sit-in was called to protest the lack of school routes for students in the District.
The authorities arrived at the place accompanied the situation and avoided any behavior or activity that alters the order.
The transport company TransMilenio also reported an impact on the operation by the demonstration, which is unrelated to the service. The service is currently running intermittently.
TransMilenio S.A announced that it will change the name of five of its stations as a result of agreements with private companies, as a strategy to recognize Bogotá's public transport terminals and a way to attract fresh resources to the system.
Currently, there are four system stations in which private companies have the right to use: El Tiempo/Maloka, Universidad Antonio Nariño, Movistar Arena, and the Paseo Villa del Río Shopping Center; five more are expected to change their names at the end of this year.
“The fundamental purpose is the appropriation of the System by all members of the community. To this end, the Entity seeks commercial allies of private and/or public brands through the project to sponsor stations and portals, in order to generate new revenues that contribute to covering some operating expenses of the System, such as maintenance, cleaning and security, contributing to the benefit of users and the entity”, said the transport company in dialogues with Portafolio.
In addition to this, with the aim of continuing to add resources and have more income, for some years TransMilenio has been implementing advertising strategies within the transport system. This is why it is not uncommon for users to find fences of different brands in the middle of their journeys.
“This is an opportunity for different businesses to link to the system, and promote their products or services, which generates commercial exploitation: Increase brand positioning, generate more visibility and impact customers,” explained TransMilenio.
The transport company commented on some of the objectives of these alliances, among which it stands out to be able to recover the economic deficit, which for this year is more than $1.8 billion.
By 2022, they hope to achieve five sponsorship alliances, they are looking for brands and/or companies, both public and private, that will join this project with monetary investment, commercial strategies.
Each alliance would see according to the chosen station, since variables of geographical location, traffic, area, among other criteria are taken into account to define the tariff. As for the revenue it would obtain from these alliances, the company says that “with the projects it intends to subscribe to this year, transMilenio S.A. is expected to generate more than $1.5 billion annually.”
