Piura: Passenger died on a plane that was about to leave for Lima

The Latam airline regretted the facts and assured that all the protocols in the case were activated. It was known that the deceased had arrived at the airport by ambulance.

This morning, Wednesday, March 23, a passenger who was going to travel on the Latam airline from the Guillermo Concha Iberico International Airport, located in Piura and bound for Lima, lost his life in the middle of the plane. Minutes before takeoff, he decompensated in his seat and died instantly, a fact that delayed the flight that was initially scheduled for 8:10 a.m.

The newspaper El Tiempo reported that the man had not yet been identified, but it is known that he arrived at the airport in an ambulance because he had health problems. Despite having priority to board the plane before others.

The witnesses of the incident regretted what happened. A prosecutor on duty was present a few hours later for the removal of the body, the same one who was taken to the Morgue de Piura.

It became known that flight LA2046 had to be rescheduled for 10:10 a.m.

The airline regretted what happened on the LA-2045 aircraft on the Lima - Piura route and, through a statement, extended its sincere condolences to the family of the deceased passenger.

“The company reports that during the flight all the necessary first aid protocols were carried out to safeguard the life of the passenger, who eventually died of natural causes,” the company states in the document.

They also note that as part of their security policies and compliance with the corresponding protocols established for these cases, they promptly activated the authorities so that they can carry out the necessary investigations and proceed with the removal of the body.

They announced that the 61-year-old passenger, of Peruvian nationality, was traveling with his son and received the necessary attention from his teams. “The competent authorities and airport personnel are carrying out the corresponding procedure established in these situations. We reiterate our heartfelt condolences to the affected family,” they point out.
