The United States football team will once again step on the field of the Azteca Stadium after almost four years. The Concacaf Octagonal Final match heading to Qatar 2022 is crucial to define the second-best team in the area. Although the streak of the most recent matches has favored the United States, strategist Gregg Berhalter was not considered a candidate to win because of the record of results they have achieved in Mexico City.

During his appearance before the media a day after jumping to the grass of the Colossus of Santa Ursula, the helmsman acknowledged that the three victories over Mexico in recent matches give his team confidence. Although he highlighted the good development of his cycle, as well as the results that bring him closer to the ranking of the most important football tournament in the world, he considered that the sports venue is an unfavorable scenario.

“We can't let our guard down. Our record here is horrendous. The odds are against us getting something out of this game. We realize that and so with things,” Berhalter said at a press conference.

Mexico has fallen in the three most recent matches that it has faced the team of stars and stripes. During the summer of 2021, after the halt due to the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, those led by Gerardo Martino were on the verge of lifting the Concacaf Nations League trophy, as well as the Gold Cup. In addition, they fell in Cincinnati during the first leg of the qualifying tournament.
